Beautiful singer, but it's really quite ridiculous.

Ms. Jackson sang gospel songs because it made her "feel good all over". She was not singing them for you :), so I submit respectfully, Ms. Jackson who refused to sing secular music, and who sang gospel to praise her Lord, is more likely than not pleased to know someone out there can sing Amazing Grace better than she. In the meantime, she praises her Lord face to face while we exist in a secular world trying to learn how to praise our Lord.

I can understand that someone else said that they spontaneously started crying listening to this. It happened to me and I've heard this song all my life but something, I think the Holy Spirit, hit me and I started crying at about 4:40 into it and then for the next few minutes. I bow to you Mahalia. God sent you to us so that we could hear an angel from his heavenly choir. My mother loved this so much that we requested this song be sung at her funeral. We honored her request and the tears still flow every time I hear this song.

Mahalia has always been an icon in the American culture unstoppable in personality & charm & soul felt singing. So very, very understandable, with this powerful song of faith for faith commeth by hearing, not by seeing, feeling, wanting, or desire; but by hearing, when the ears of the soul are open to the hearing of the voice of God's will whispered by His Holy Spirit, then the flower of innocence opens up its petals to the reception of the true gospel of Jesus Christ, grace of the Father.
Out of hundreds of versions I've heard i can only seriously relate to this one. Not in the faith sense of course, because im pretty much a non-believer. But more often than not the faithful (and in this case its Mahalia) have so much conviction that it brings out something truly amazing. Its quite extraordinary that even though its a pretty long version you feel extremely disappointed when you have to stop listening.

I wonder how Mahalia would have felt about this video having almost 4 million views, and the countless others that are on youtube of her. I can only imagine she would be amazed that she is still loved and respected as the true Queen of Gospel nearly forty years after her death and that her message of love is still being heard.

I can understand that someone else said that they spontaneously started crying listening to this. It happened to me and I've heard this song all my life but something, I think the Holy Spirit, hit me and I started crying at about 4:40 into it and then for the next few minutes. It was like she knew and just let the Spirit minister because she just hums through it for a while. She was letting the Spirit minister. Anointed!

I bow to you Mahalia. God sent you to us so that we could hear an angel from his heavenly choir. My mother loved this so much that we requested this song be sung at her funeral. We honored her request and the tears still flow every time I hear this song.

Out of hundreds of versions I've heard i can only seriously relate to this one. Not in the faith sense of course, because im pretty much a non-believer. But more often than not the faithful (and in this case its Mahalia) have so much conviction that it brings out something truly amazing. Its quite extraordinary that even though its a pretty long version you feel extremely disappointed when you have to stop listening.
