If you have the ls, it came with 18" wheels and tires with a speed rating of 120 mph (I believe) so your computer is programmed to stop speed at 118. The V6's that came with larger wheels, the tires have a higher speed rating and the computer is adjusted for this.

You can get a tune from trifecta, and it will add at least 13 HP, and depending on your mods, even more, and if you have an automatic, it will change your shift points to make it even faster, and they also have what they call a ghost cam which makes it sound like you have a big cam in it at idle. They will give you a tune according to your mods, but make sure of your tires speed rating because you don't wont to go 145 mph on a tire that cannot handle it.

@MrZroe Check out the tune by Trifecta, I'm pretty sure he can remove the speed limiter, and you can reflash to stock at any time you need to bring it to the dealer and back after that. Unlike the V8 ECM, there is no reflash counter on our chip (at least for the 2010 and 2011 models, that may have changed with the 2012, you'll have to check if you have a 2012).

I've got one and with just a few little mod's such as a CAI, the horsepower, the feel, the sound all improve incredibly! BTW Going 0-60 only requires 1 gear change in the manual trans and with a custom exhaust system added on you'll find it's NO problem flying by the other cars on the road...and believe it or not with those two mods, you'll get better gas mileage at 100 mph and above than you will at 60!
@danoconnellw It has GM's 3.6l DI dohc VVT v6. Im sure it is the same engine. In America, the 3.6 was originally rated at 304 hp, then re-tuned to 312 hp, and now is coming close to another re-tune for an excelent 323 hp. (Idk what that is is KW's)

We rented one of these last year when we went on a vacation, it had plenty of room for me and my dad, and for a V6 it had plenty of power and good gas milage, we got our rental up to 118 before the governer kicked in, but over all nice car for a trip.

I can't believe GM doesn't even give you the 3.45 rear axle ratio when you get the 275 width rear tires.
Well at least GM allows you access to 4 of the 6 gears. (tops out 4th, and then holds governed top speed)

I've got one and with just a few little mod's such as a CAI, the horsepower, the feel, the sound all improve incredibly! BTW Going 0-60 only requires 1 gear change in the manual trans and with a custom exhaust system added on you'll find it's NO problem flying by the other cars on the road...and believe it or not with those two mods, you'll get better gas mileage at 100 mph and above than you will at 60!

@danoconnellw It has GM's 3.6l DI dohc VVT v6. Im sure it is the same engine. In America, the 3.6 was originally rated at 304 hp, then re-tuned to 312 hp, and now is coming close to another re-tune for an excelent 323 hp. (Idk what that is is KW's)

@highlanderhybrid Your family car probably has a longer first gear that pushes it all the way to sixty this Camaro has to shift gears before it hits sixty making it a little slower to sixty then your car.

@steven21111 Mine actually has to shift 2 time before 60 unfortunately, at 40 then 50 (6 speed), but the Camaro has more Oomph past 120 than my car stock. And gets around the same MPG which is fantastic.

I love chevy cars, but I gotta say, the chevy autos are a little dissapointing. my friend was driving one of these and I was following him in a honda accord, 4 cylinder. he opened up the camaro and I opened up my car to keep up with him, I had to put on the brakes going up hill to keep from rear ending him

I rented a V-6 Camaro and hit 105 mph heading back to Vegas. When is was crusing easy I hit 28.34 mpg. Great combination of power and economy and cheaper than an Accord V-6 coupe.

on the auto you drop the shift all the way down to M and dont touch the tap shift at all and that leaves it in sport mode

@gattler your 350z doesn't get as good of gas mileage for it's smaller engine. Also considering it's ligher also shows how out of date it is.
the insideline review of the camaro v6 said it best; stop considering this as a sports car and it turns out to be an amazing vehicle.
leave the sports idea to the v8, where can you talk then? it gets similar mpg to your engine and it's 6.1 liters.
I love the 350 and 370z but have respect for others plz. It'll all be different always.

@viasevenvai Show some respect for the 350z engine. The same engine is in the Altima and was in the G35 and got wards 10 best engines from 2002-2007. If the Camaro V6 can beat that then come talk to me.

@jmcle884 yeah for 4-9 years ago it was a great engine. I'm commenting on someone who says their 350z is a better buy. I pointed out gas mileage and the "theme" of the cars. I figured it didn't need some nissan fanatic to chime in.
bmw's current engine got awards, so does everything else, did the ZR1 engine get an award? Did the 458 Italia engine get an award? Awards are politics for gas mileage. And the 350Z in today's language is inefficient.

@ jerw10ss yes I love it its still fast not as fast as the V8 duh, but it gets better mpg. If you to Buy the V6 make sure it came stock with Z rated tires so the the limter is high and you can drive it like its meant to be. You can have alot of fun with the LT and keep up with or pass other cars...I'm glad I bought the LT it made the bills easier.

We rented one of these last year when we went on a vacation, it had plenty of room for me and my dad, and for a V6 it had plenty of power and good gas milage, we got our rental up to 118 before the governer kicked in, but over all nice car for a trip.
