Well at the end it was a bit exaggerated but you're pretty much right. The Yakuza and the Korean mafia employ baseball bats and extremely sharp bone cutting knives. Good when nobody's using a gun but can't stand up to Italian mafia. But then again, remember that in Korea, if you possess a gun without the government's permission, the army goes and shoots you. And I believe it's similar with Japan.
Mafia shoulda won! While the yakuza did have the edge in a melee fight you have to remember this was redone 1000 times and this is just one possibility, for all you know the Yakuza could have all been gunned down within 5 seconds in one fight
@4763843 no they don't use swords. They're fucking gangsters. They use machine guns and shotguns and shit, where the hell would they keep a fucking samurai sword? it would be virtually useless in a gunfight.

@7399me that usually ended with all the banzai chargers being killed. In the last banzai charge, every single one was mowed down by machine guns. And you're wrong anyway. They used bayonets, not samurai swords.
@Jawf94 Knives and swords are considered close quarters weapons. they're ideal in tight spaces like hallways and corridors. Guns are ranged weapons...meaning for distance fighting. That's why today's soldier or marine carries a combat knife with him just in case.
i dont believe the mafia shouldve won. in the end it was down to a hand to hand melee weapon fight. and it was proven over and over in the show that the yakuza has the advantage at extremely close range. im talking about the sai not the nunchucks. ( i agree with the decision between nunchucks and bat. stupid asian lol)
and btw how come they didnt show the katana? if they pit a katana against a bat the bat would surely lose. yet they didnt.

For Yakuza: 1. whens the last time you've seen someone wave a sai around like a bat?
2. if i kill two people with a shotgun great but then what?sit there reloading while theres guys with 5 shot pistols?
