  • anonymous donation

Because the people who are giveing to AIDS reaserch anonymousley are just ashamed of comeing out of the closet and saying "I dont like AIDS"

Im gessing the person was just doing something good to be good, not to have there face on Tv or anyhting like that.

  • Coming out of the closet as an atheist is important.

I came out as an atheist to my family and friends.

But I would loose my job as a police officer if my atheism came out to the public. That is wayyy different.

But cops who are highly involved in Christian activities is no big deal at all.

This wasn't hypocritical of the anonymous doner. He just wants to keep his job. I''m sure he out of the closet to his family and friends.

One of the few times I disagree with Olbermann.

  • Dressing up like a cop for your boyfriend doesn't make you a police officer.

  • being able to write does not make you any less of an inbred retard

  • Second cousins don't count what your dad did with your aunt/mother though makes gawd mad.

  • I feel the same way as u do. I have to shut up when somebody is blessing me or preaching me about their religion. I feel so powerless in the inside... is hard to be an atheist in america.

  • Am I the only one who thinks his point is slightly vague here? Is he mocking the anonymous donor for hypocrisy or is he knocking the ads for atheism? To me, it seems like both.

  • Seems like it merely shows that the very thing the group claims as their motivation is indeed an issue of real concern to people.

  • I didn't expect this from Olbermann.

I guess he like most sane adults (and some plant life) has the good sense to see that money of this sort would be better spent trying to help keep people fed clothed and off the street than in attempts to tear down institutions that help feed clothe and shelter those in need.

  • @CHARESTHEHAMER Beautifuly said , would be nice to pull together and break this pattern , let them with out our best intrest trust each other , that would be interesting , no one to lie to steal from or die for them , it would make one hella of a reality show , pretty sure it would be short lived ! We could make a mokery out of it and let them watch us at the same time !

  • The bronze never goes to anything good, that's why its the bronze. But really, the man has a point - if the goal of a campaign is to get more atheists to come out, you don't foster that by standing in the close and saying "look, its safe out there, you just go and I'll stay right here!"

  • @Oberman: Booooooo!

Atheists in america are still building a culture which will allow them to be more openly atheist. This bus ad is a method building that culture, not a proclamation that we are already at that point.

So tell me Mr. Oberman, are you better than O'Reilly or are you just a different *KIND* of O'Reilly?

  • Perhaps Keith is the donor and did it so that no one would even think it could be him...

  • Olbermann's Edward R Murrow delivered feigned outrage schtick is getting really old. Listen Keith, he probably did this for the same reason that I stopped putting atheist themed bumper stickers on my car, because I was tired of having my car intentionally keyed by lunatic religious motherfuckers.

  • A person donating 10,000 isnt exactly what I would call the worst person...

The irony -fair enough....but the "worst person"?

  • Sometimes the first "worst" person is a light hearted one...

  • yeah was a little lame... i did enjoy the irony of the story though.. .

  • I can understand that Keith was trying to point out the anonymity of the atheist who donated 10,000 dollars. Personally, I think the person who gave the generous amount of 10,000 should be appreciated for their generosity and maybe that is what Keith was subtly suggesting. But I do think it was harsh to place the person in the worst list. Many atheists are still concerned about being out especially at work where discrimination occurs for atheists even today. The issue is sensitive.

  • I think the irony is amusing but I'm kind of saddened that Keith chose this as a worst person. This is hardly fitting of that level of scrutiny and it's odd, because he's usually on our side in all this. I'm pretty sure he is an atheist, actually.

  • Pandering to his moderate religious viewers?

  • We should send atheists door to door. Okay, not really, but it would be funny as hell.

  • Worst person? So, not a serial killer... or even a white collar criminal... but a guy who donated money? How precious.

  • The double standard of one individual says nothing about atheists or atheism. But it does make him/her a bit of a dolt.

  • Christians preach and promote in print, on the airways, in public, in church, in schools, indoctrinate children and they get their panties in a bunch of some bus ads. Disgusting hypocrits.

  • We need MORE Atheist billboards and bus ads!

  • Ha Ha, what a douche for not realizing the irony...
