a huge mistake ,the piece is a masterpiece but the outbringing just
doesn't match with the original feeling of the music, this is for a ballroom ,but this originally was inspired by folkdance ,and you can't feel it .sorry but first you have to experience hungarian folkdance .
We played this last year in our orchestra. As a flautist, I can tell you while most of the piece is challenging the part at 2:03 - is a nightmare to learn, but when you get it right, it's exhilarating.
@FlautoSintesi It is a grea performance, I adore, appreciate and love Pahud's playing all the time, but here the oboist was closer to the hungarian feeling.. (it is my opinion)
I can only speak for german and austrian orchestras, and they are all moving (more or less). I think it is just a question of passion for the music, a different imagination of "sound", a different cultural background and maybe the common sense that the first aim of a musician is not to be technically 1000% perfect but 100% with his music......
Who cares!? Jeez do you think that's anyway to encourage people to get into classical music?! It's no wonder it's viewed as elitest when that is the greeting people get when they try it for the first time.
THis isn't about whether I called it a song or not, this is about you coming at me for no apparent reason, you UNDERSTAND what I was trying, if I happen to say song or peice wth does it matter? My bad, I said song because my definition of song is anything that is music, your definition of songs having words, fine I'll correct myself next time.
What a confusing interpretation! FIscher has really no idea how to conduct this piece, a true shame!

@McDoulgham The feel of its mood, more dynamic, the lack of the strict clock would suit this better

This music is just beautiful. Its such a pity that I would have to pay for watching the whole thing...

Ez Kodály, ez az! Gyönyörködik Fischerben és a Berliniben. Fantasztikusan jó.

Nagyon jó. Kár, hogy pont a legvége maradt le, az még éppen kellett volna a tökéletes élményhez.

Ahhh Emmanuel Pahud ... sublime music maker and rather nice to look at too .....

I love how musical Pahud is. Notice how at 2:34 he turns towards the oboist to 'hand over' the solo.
One of the many reasons why watching live music is just as exciting as listening.

One of the best orchestral pieces ever written.
These guys are just exceptional.
Don't you just hate 'em?

Fischer is easily the best conductor for Kodaly, and it's great to see him here with the BPO!

@MaxxUS08 You should listen it with Hungarian National Orchestra with Zoltán Kocsis.

Serious question.... Why do European Orchestras tend to "move around" more than American Orchestras??

I have to reiterate "NiceVideos11's" comment. One can really tell when a group of musicians truly enjoys the music that's in front of them.
Bravo, Berlin Phil.! You really sold this piece! So much fun to play, and you made it just as fun for the audience to listen to.
