Wow!! Didn't now that there was another crash!! I was out there in Bahrain, 3 months after 744 crashed! I remember 748 replacing 744. Wow!! By the way.... This is AE3 Toliver!! What's up!
The Desert Duck that I remember crashing on while attempting to land on USS LaSalle(AGF-3) in 1987, while in Persian Gulf. 3 died in that incident, 5 survivors. It was quite an event.
yea the famous sea king tail pylon, used to hate cracking them open for the daily inspection and when washing the air craft. HC-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dnt know..... i guess before that year..... A/C side #748...... i only remembered having 742, 744, and 746.... i think i found the horizontal stab @ hunter's lodge for this a/c..
this happened in 2003. I shut the Bahrain det down in 2005 prior to HC-2 decomming in Jan2006. I think Matt Flowers was the crewchief on this bird. 748 was a bird we received in 2002 when they deomm'd VC-8 in Puerto Rico.cause was tail pylon crack. Downed the entire inventory for 1 month. Inspection found 4 other birds that were on verge of failure
Wrong "Crash". Matt Flowers was on the other "Duck" crash video. That one was 744 and WAS due to a tail pylon crack over 10 years in the making. Date was 5 July 2002. This video was about a year after that and was from brake issues.
We had near incidents happen like 10 times just before this. Pilots hit the sloped deck, foward momentum and they pop the brakes off on accident. LOTS of CC yelling on the ICS "BRAKES! BRAKES! BRAKES!"
Especially common for the shorter pilots (sub-5'2") cause they had to reeeaaaaach the peddles.
Wow that was crazy! What ship was that?

who's at fault? Did the pilot got in trouble?
chefjavier 2 years ago
From the video, it looks as if the pilot , trying to stop rolling, pulled back on the cyclic too far and clipped the pylon.
eviledga 2 years ago
@chefjavier maybe he did and maybe he didn't. He's still flyin though.
