  • @127hitman Actually it is a juvenile horned lizard!

  • This lizard may be common in the Phoenix area but I have yet to be fortunate enough to find one and I'm about 40 miles south of there. Good job!

  • @waywardmuse I have found them as far south as Tombstone. Look for areas with low grass and plenty of harvester ants, with creosote bushes nearby. That has been my search method....Or just stumble across one in the road, like my first!

  • Remember that horned lizards make very bad pets, they require special heat, lght and caging conditions that are not easy to setup. Not to mention, they require a good portion of their diet to be harvester ants for their well being.
