Sorry if I sounded rude, I think you have a great kit for your needs, and did learn some new ideas. Like the hot glue shot. Which I can already think of coming in handy many ways given that I have the proper fire tools and not just my flint. I figured the plastic, like a ziplock bag, wouldn't be too big of a hindrance into your FAK and it could help in that emergency situation, plus you already had a nonbreathable tape so ;p and I just like sharing knowledge I guess its a curse of being a nurse
@jeffjuice3886 No, you weren't rude at all! I really do appreciate all of your information! Im glad you watched/hopefully enjoyed my video! I appreciate any feedback for the most part as long as its constructive.
-cont 3 - then you would use the plastic dressing, with a NON-breathable tape, duct tape should do I think, and create a 3 sided taping, and leave a small corner open. What this does is create a one way valve. 1 when the person breathes in the plastic will collapse on the body not allowing anymore air to get it. Secondly, when the person breathes out, the extra air int he cavity will be blown out through the plastic, and the small hole that was left. Now this is only a momentary fix until help
@jeffjuice3886 Ooooohh! This makes a lot more sense to me. I see what you mean with the duct tape, but since duct tape is waterproof material, wouldnt you not be able to see the blood anyway? Or am I wrong? And with the collapsed lung, I sure do hope that that never happens to me or anyone i know in a survival situation. Because that would be a whole nother world of trouble! Again, thanks for the info and watching/commenting!
--cont where there is a thin line between the lungs and the wall, but once air gets in the pressure that was holding the lungs expanded, degrades and the pressure gradient goes out of wack, resulting in a collapsed lung. [this can also happen internally but better you go to a hospital unless your far away, you may need to artificially puncture the lung to let the air our] So, basically you would need to get the air out with some sort of straw or valve or something and them breathing out
Oh sorry lol. Ok firstly, my comment on the red duct tape was that, if it was used in a situation where there was bleeding, it would hinder a better prognosis of the situation, are they bleeding more? less? Or even end up confusing someone who comes to try and help. Atelectasis is simply put collapse of lung. So if you have an external puncture around the rids/thorax you can create a collapsed lung; which is due to the introduction of air into the thoracic cavity
Also, in your kit, even with your advil, I would say put in some aspirin and benedryll. Aspirin in case someone is having heart problems, and benedryll for obvious reasons.
You could use the alcohol swabs for fire making :p I state it in some of my first aid kit/ or the other tips video where i show to put vaseline with cotton balls and or have alcohol swab packets for an easy access for fire kindling starter. The only thing with the red ductape I would say that if it was around a would or something, the blood would be masked. I would also say you can add a ziplock bag or use your space blanket as a way to moderate atelectesis [external]
@jeffjuice3886 Im not sure if I catch what your your saying about the duct tape being red, would that be bad or good? and your going WAY over my head with the atelectesis thing! I have no clue what that means! Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that, im just being honest. Thanks for watching man!
Congrats on the subs bro!!! I'm happy for you :). Keep the videos coming :). great little Kit, the classic is an awsome knife, i have the esquire from Wenger and i love it!!.
