  • thank you again so much Lori , you are the reason why I could make my last painting .

  • I read somewhere it's better to put a polyurethane layer before applying gesso.

  • I was technically looking for a tutorial on gessoing a stretched canvas, but the tips about sanding out the weird bumps and using the tweezers for bristles was helpful. :)

  • Lori,

Thanks for posting this video it was very helpful. Just wondering if you have any problem with your board or painting warping on 1/4" hardboard and what you do about it if this does happen. I see you put your art in lovely frames and wondered about bracer bars or such. Also I'd like to know how your gesso is applied. In crisscross fashion or weave texture or none at all, just sanded smooth? Thanks a bunch. Your work is beautiful!

  • excellent.. to the point.. thank you for sharing

  • Thank you!! This is exactly what I've been looking for!!

  • This was very helpful. I enjoy working on masonite.

  • Did I miss it? I didn't hear how many coats you put on. And I didn't hear how you put on the coats. Did you crisscross?

  • Is this a good alternative instead of using real canvas? Canvas are so expensive.

  • Nice vid.

  • Thanks, Your a good person for sharing this.

  • My goodness. This is much more than a video. This is much more than a good looking woman teaching how to gesso hardwood. This is the power of internet. This is why we live in the "information" age. This is why the 21st century is the best time to be alive. It's because people can come together in ways that would not, could not, have been imagined a mere century ago.

So while our problems might be more complex, this gives me hope that humanity will pull through anything.

  • Good work Lori, a nice helpful video. Yeah hardboard is so much better for posting as opposed to canvas as it's fairly indestructible. Now got any tips on how to talk someone into cutting my boards for me... I hate that job.. haha ;-) ( oh.. nice smile too )

  • Good tutorial! Keep up the informative work.

  • doesn't seem like that would be much cheaper then buying a canvas. I might be wrong though, how much is the hardboard?

  • I was just at Home Depot looking at hardboard. I wasn't sure the kind with the rough side would work, because the kind i used in the back was smooth on both side. You answered that question, so thanks!!!

  • your videos are really high quality & informational, I hope you continue to do them :D
