@WireMan7620 thanks, he is a grass green on the head, olive green on the back & lighter shade of that on the belly & cobalt blue on his rump, streak by his eye, and under his wings (Cobalt blue only on the males).
I always let my budgie watch koolaid before bed. He is actually picking up on koolaid's "exscuse me" and so far has gotten "' exscu" :) & If I forget to let him watch he actually does his version of a 'stomp' on my keyboard , what a stinker!
@iBaker246 I keep the parrotlet pair in one cage cuz thy are bonded ..they bonded before they were put in one cage. They won't be as fritnflybwvu cuz they prefervea other.
@MagicComet577 No parrotlets aren't as cuddly as some other birds. Depends on thier personality too. Greencheek conures are cuddly. But all birds can be loud.. To some point. Quietest and cuddliest bird I know is a stiuffed bird toy lol. But just make sure u do ur research. Lots of info on google:)
@jxh0703 parrotlets are very quiet. they do not have the ability to screech like most other parrots. and often they are actually quite hard to hear talk because alot of times their voices are as soft as whispers. and though they are very active birds, they are called "pocket parrots" because they like to snuggle in small spaces - like pockets. lol. Mine LOVES my hair...
@pixidust06 you should babysit koolaid one day then lol. I have raised many now & as babies they are quiter but when they go thru their 'teens' they can get fiesty & un-cuddly if not trained properly or are just have active personalities. males are also more vocal & will quite often make a 'shrilling/twirling' sound when they get excited. as well as dependant on their personality. BooBoo, my other parrotlet is total opposite. so go figure.
I've been wanting to get one of these parrots and I'd like to ask a few questions before I get one. I heard they're very quiet birds and don't scream or squawk. Is that true? Also, do they like to cuddle? I want a cuddly and quiet bird.
@FRESHCUTT1 theyre from a local breeder. i find feeding them fresh foods & enough protien in pellets & good quality seeds help with keepin their colours & Feathers healthy and bright,.
@FRESHCUTT1 you shouldnt get animals from petshops. they usually, if not always, come from an animal breeding mill that breeds huge amounts of animals with no care or concern for the health or welfare of the animal.
did he say, "Let's open the door!" ziggy, some Parrotlets lift their wings while they are talking. Not sure why...maybe just part of their expression.
birds make themselves small by tucking their feathers in when they are scared..but whn the y get mad, they puff up to look scarier...the wing stretch is a social gesture showing good intentions/happy.....i think.
@SpockLover27 as long as they have it mixed with something to swallow it they won't choke. i know, they don't have the saliva like humans...so i mix it on the bread..
@jxh0703 Hey I'm sorry, I didn't notice that someone else had already asked. Sorry to bother you. :) And it looks like they were really enjoying it! :) What other things do parrotlets like to eat? (I have one, her name is Pepper.) :)
@SpockLover27 no problem!! they like to eat a lot of different things - I try to feed them some fresh food everyday. usually sprouted seeds are in the mix, but I've fed them broccoli, carrots, strawberries, blueberries, apple, pasta, rice (the brown kind), chicken, boiled egg. lots of things i haven't fed them but i'm sure they'd eat :p
@jxh0703 They do seem to eat anything, and with lots of zest! Which is nice, because I have the hardest time trying to get my two male Budgies (Buddy and Tuppy) to eat veggies and such. But Pepper just gobbles everything down. :P She's a good girl. Come spring I'm going to see if we can get some good berries and such. We also make this food that she ADORES, it was corn meal, and oatmeal I think... I'd have to ask my mom as she is the one that made it. :) Wow I sure ramble about my birds! :P
@SpockLover27 rambling about birds is good, just means you've gone bird nuts i'm joking :p
yeah spring/summer is so much easier to feed them good things cz they see u eat it too it helps. OH right, oats & anything corn they love..i do fast food (thaw froz veggies) for them & they eat all the corn first :S
this has been such an educational video for my birds lol. they respond to koolaid and even try to eat the "food" off the screen! btw is it true that it's harder to teach female parrotlets to talk?
@ParrotletPhoenix what the heck really?!! hahaha that's funny. I believe so, about females talking....not that it's harder to teach, but they naturall don't have the instinct like the males to be vocal....at least in the bird world, not like in the human world LOL.
That version of bye at the end was so cute! I wonder where you get all those climbing frames and toys from, cause where I am they only seem to sell very large toys for birds and they will not fit into Snowy's cage. Still trying to figure out how to use the camera and how to upload videos.
@TheFirebird23 hehee...koolaid always has to lift his wings when he says bye. OH there are so many things you can order online! 'naturechest' is a good one
although I do get my toys from a local bird specialty store called West Coast Tropical Bird Studio in Vancouver BC.
you guys really carry on a conversation over there!!!! oh my!!! he really does say peekabooooo!!!! wow, I love it!!! they are so silly and smart! oh dear and he says bye too!!! waves his wings byebye!!!! LOL!!!
