  • The part at 0000 to 0009? How do you play that? What strings are you picking.

  • hey, can you mail me the tabs for this.. it's the best guitar song ever!

  • @styxtwo0: TABS??? Use your ears man, and if you're totally tone deaf, watch the man's fingers! Tabs! Sheesh!

    This is great, nice post.

  • Excellent, thank you Chrys (from France)

  • The vid description has inspired me to create a new guitar brand. KFG (Kentucky Fab Guitars) the slogan will be "Fingerpicking good!"

  • Please tell me you're a professional musician.

  • Played flawlessly! Thank you.

  • I'm 12 and I can play the first half of this song. my teacher is awesome. I can't play it as good as you do but I can play it.

  • sweet. been working on this one myself and you've given me some hints here to get it better.

  • i like Steve Howes version more xP

not to say this isnt good

but steve just makes it harder

  • It looks like steve vai's signature acoustic by ibanez

  • bravo!

  • sounds like hesitation blues by hot tuna. check it out. both good tunes

  • are running that through a processor?

it has a damn good reverb

  • i'm tryint to learn this and all i can say is bravo!!!!

    nicely done.

  • vraiment super!

    bravo!!!!!!!!!

  • Great job man, I can play the chet version, and am trying to get another version down that's very similar to this one. great job, you have some serious talent

  • So is that an A minor shape. as the base there? And the base technique with the thumb pick, is it moving from E to D strings as the base note?

  • Why don't you test it and find out?

  • 5 4 6 4 5 4 6 4 5 4 6 4...."untill the dog runs away and the cops show up".quote

  • ahhh! Thanks pater!

  • Excellente! Marvelioso! Real good. The video doesn't show your right hand which makes me believe that you're using some sort of mechanical device. Maybe I'm wrong.

  • Thanks:-)

I use a standard thumbpick on my right hand.

  • What the hell?

  • @plautus5648 It's not a matter of 'maybe you're wrong" YOU ARE WRONG

  • Great tommy cover 10/10..did you learn it from watching the up close video ? thanks for sharing a better point of view..because of you i figured out the C9 slamming...give us a waltzing matilda/road to gandaghi cover please ;)

  • It's not tommy's song...

  • lol ofcourse it isnt but this is his interpretation and you play it very nice.

  • try chet atkins. lol. nice vid;P

  • wow.. now that is the best version ive heard, love it

    keep it up!

  • very nice..is this guitar tunded down ???

learnig this sons. i hope i can do half as good in 2 years

  • Hey,

Thx. yes the guitar was tuned down.

Practice a few weeks and you will have it:-)

    Good luck

  • im learning this song on guitar

  • Great tune. Really enjoyed it, and beautiful playing.

  • Best version on youtube, my friend - great job!

  • Very good, i'm learning this myself, and it's a great help seeing all of the finger positions you use. Although it sounds to be in swing time, it's not, and it sounds even better if you play it like that, you should give it a try. Keep up the good work, cheers.

  • good job..

  • you've got the best rendition of this classic piece!

  • meget meget bra ^^ Stå på!

    A.I.O

  • Really enjoyed this, nice playing!

  • excellent . . . very well played.

  • very nice. fingerpicking is the way to go with acoustic guitar. instead of one song, you play two: one high and one low.

i love this song btw, you play just like tommy plays it.

  • Very good rendition. i have trouble wiv da base line. have trouble playin riff and base at same time. :(

  • Can i book you to play at a party ? :D haha your good dude, keep up what you're doing dog and you'll be allright !

  • Im so unbelievibly useless at doing the baseline with my thumb i need FAR more practice

  • Man thats awesome keep it up :)

  • The trick is that it's a classical piece in ragtime. Your thumb needs to always be a half-beat off during everything except the bridge (the part where he goes way up the neck and there's no bassline). Good luck!

  • you said "beat off". hehe.

  • Nonono, you only -half- beat off. Using just your thumb. See?

  • nice playing

you're playing a half step down aren't you?

  • pretty cool!

  • nice fret-inlays man! nice played 2 ;)

  • Not bad at all man, not so bad at all, dont give this man such a hard time! Can't you see a brother struggling?

Mad respect for you bro, peace!

  • Nice job- so nice that you've inspired me. Not to finish learning the tune but to burn my guitar. Well, maybe I'll reconsider that for a moment and just bear down a bit. All that said, nice job!!!
