  • the reason today he has no teeth is coz of too much cookies.... and IBM...

  • look up cheese wheel and flutes and clowns that was cookie monsters true first appearance

  • @imaniluva6 yeah, i see what you mean, its the teeth isn't it? Yeah good thing they removed them in the redesign. The character itself would've gotten lots of critisism

  • Not bad for a prototypical Cookie Monster, although Jim Henson would eventually make the right choice in Frank Oz for CM's voice and personality.

Even in the early Sesame days, Cookie debuted as a very primitive creature who didn't say much more than, well, his first name. I believe the "If I Knew You Were Coming" skit with Ernie to be his first Sesame appearance, if not among the first few from 1969. They probably made him evolve more so that kids wouldn't be so scared of him.

  • Mmmm.... Capaci-taters!

  • If for any reason this unit is tampered with, the 90 day warranty on this system is invalidated.

  • Hilarious! I like the hydromatic mome raths.

  • I heard the words Gandalfometer and Magneto. Win.

  • The computer voice I heard in this clip sounds like Jim Henson. Who was playing the evil Cookie Monster in this clip? I didn't think it was Frank Oz. It didn't sound like him.

The part that made me laugh was during the end when Cookie Monster exploded.

  • @JeffK1980 Actually Jim Henson performs Cookie Monster here.

  • Is he green?

  • they had this same skit with Muppets.

  • @SamSeven2013 It was performed with the Luncheon Counter monster on The Muppet Show.

  • the machine is speaking gibberish. I don't even know where to begin.

  • @EngineerMK2004 Mostly, yes. But some of it is understandable, or it wouldn't be so funny. Like the methane thing... and comparison of the value of the pieces.

  • 2:26

    "Sterile Coordinates"

  • 2:00

    Burp

  • he just throws away the thing that was at the hardware store!

  • Wicked! :D

  • Ahaha, this is so clever.

  • Great!

  • I've been watching episodes of The Muppet Show. This bit gets reused in one of the episodes, but with a different monster.

  • Why would an IBM training film have a laugh-track? This has to be from a TV show.

  • @leftyxbuffalo It is, this is the Ed Sullivan Show version. The actual IBM version is here:

  • Hee! Wonderful!

  • Cookie Monster actually consumes things in this video... I am amazed.

  • @ThePrimetech No, that's really his paternal grandfather.

  • wow!! Cookie Monster had teeth back then and just spoke gibberish!

  • I'm sure I made out the words "Oh yeah" and "hm good", and maybe even "upper right heh?"

  • @mooky9669 he lost his teeth from eatting cookies and machine parts
