  • So British. Chances for a gray day in Israel - about zero.

  • Great song.

  • This song has really sad and profound lyrics..

  • Stop it at 1:19 and see the looks on those cops faces. I bet they were trying to decide the best way to kick the s%^t out of them!

  • This is reality for the common Englishman. I have the video of this. Manic fucking depression, people.

  • @0.23......unleaded @ £1.54 a Gallon .. I'll have some of that!!! (those were the days eh!)

  • If it weren't for a little Madness once in a while the world would be a lackluster place.

  • Good Heavens. Musicians actually playing their instruments, not computer sequenced but actually played in real-time; and intelligent lyrics. Wow! I forgot what that was like.. Thanks, it was great.

  • The great Madness earthquake in London, August 8, 1992. an event in Finsbury Park in London called “Madstock.” It was the first appearance by the band in eight years. People who lived in a nearby apartment block swore they felt an earthquake.

So many people were dancing during the song “One Step Beyond” they created vibrations that simulated an earthquake for blocks. Their dancing actually registered on the Ritcher scale.

  • My Favorite from Madness !

  • id like to thank my mother for not listening to utter shit and listening to amazing music like madness etc... they dont make them like these any more...

  • @ThirdEyeOpen123 same here. My favourite album when I was a kid was Dark side of the Moon, and it still is. Great music I was exposed to, like Madness.

  • If looks could kill..... That police man dosn't look like he likes madness.

  • good song!!! it's very good 5+

  • XD.. green day..Xd...

  • i lol'd

  • if you vote for the bnp dont bother listening to madness...this shit isnt for you, you racist cunts

  • Got this full track as my ringtone , I don't talk to the caller I just listen to Grey Day HA HA HA

  • Geiles Video !

  • why are the bunch of racists discussing their bloody views on a mdness page..bugger off to somewhere it actually belongs!

  • Well! I Intend to go for a poo in the next five minutes, which, thankfully will have the same result as you voting BNP at the next election.

PS, if you need any help in finding a polling station, ask your mummy, she will know!

  • I know it will have no result, hence why I don't really have any problems doing it.

  • BNP want to repatriate 'voluntarily' all 'ethnics' (including irish)

  • how can a 15 know anything on change ? The BNP is racist and madness is not a racist band so I dunno why the BNP squad is out on this site, I hate immigration policy by the way but I'd never vote BNP

  • theres a rap version of this- its shit.

  • Alright Joker, you're such a proud, rascist BNP supporter that one of your favourite bands are the Specials (who have a black singer and band members) who you proudly display on your page. Mug!

  • your point is? BNP arent racist anyway so fuck off. plus im only 15 so i know al;ot more on how immigration has changed places like schools- and its not for the better.

  • You know nothing at all child. Grow up and do some reading, proper reading, before you start agreeing with Nazis, because that is exactly what they are. The BNP for your information, have links to facist organisations such as the KKK in America, and ne facists in Europe, and you are trying to tell me that they are NOT racists? Sheesh, grow up, child, becuase you don't know what you are messing with.

  • i know exactly what im messing with- a left wing puff, who likes nothing less than to be a selfhater. u probably got connections with UAF and all those wankers anyway, stop bringinging this subject up and enjoy the music.

  • What are you going on about. Grow a brain. It has nothing to do with Left Wing, Right Wing, but everything to do with a so-called 'legalised' {and I use that term very loosely} party who hates everyone who does not happen to have the same colour skin tone as them. If they want to send 'everyone back' in their words, then there would be hardly anybody left in the country to run it, leaast of all cretins like you. And, also, 'back' to where may I add?

  • uh yeah I just got sent that in a message. Doesn't bear comparison to the original.

  • what kinda vid is this?no fast cars. no booty shakein' no "cristal" no bollar bills bein thrown around. just good music ,talent and a bit of the silly.

  • im only 16 but Madness rule the late 70s,80s

  • MATADOR - ARCTIC MONKEYS

  • and the computer he was on....was in my room...which has about 8 madness posters on the wall...along with others.... its a little hint to anyone using my computer...to LISTEN TO MADNESS ONLY!! :D

  • Your my kinda person!

  • This is SO brilliant. Drawing comparisons with the young musicans/song writers of today; there really is no competition. Music has changed so much - and not for the better. Viva Madness.

  • no joke...thats what i think all the time.... my 8 year old cousin came here one day and got on youtube and was lookin at lady gaga videos..and pussycat dolls..

    IT MADE ME SICK :D

  • how old were ya in the vid back then?simonnh1. you ara a star! nice one. are the houses they walk into the gardens of still there?

  • Ha Ha!

Look at 1:45. The kid under the umbrella with the big grin to Suggs's right is me in my bodywarmer!! My kids could not believe it when they saw their dad on a pop video!! Filmed in Hornimans park Notting Hill. A great day that was. We were playing and then we saw Madness filming. They told us to get under the umbrella and dance!!!

  • Lucky kids. I would have given anything to have seen Madness that close.

  • lucky!

  • Great story, simonh1....I hope you get royalties for your appearance. :-)

  • The shop was actually an empty shop at the time in Camden Town - the boys old stomping ground. My aunt stood and watched them filming it.

  • Classic Madness vid.

Pretty sure the shop front is the window at Hallogen's rehearsal studios on Holloway Road, the lone stomp at the beginning has the old garage at the bottom of Holloway Road again in the background. The bus top "Superman" is of course Oxford Street - with Selfridges on the right.

    Classic!

  • This is a song, that according too all songs from Madness, you never hear on radio or tv, but is very timeless.

  • Best band ever! classic song also...

  • I remember when this first came out my English teacher wrote "Grey day" and "Grade A" on the blackboard and spent an hour debating what the song was about.

    Wot a prick !!!!!!!!

  • tune.. what legends the nutty boys are.

timeless songs that will never be forgotten. hope they are still around

in 20 years time for the next generation

    to experiance..

  • Madness Is the best in the World

  • @Tuttyboi18 agreed

  • fucking choooon blad

  • así empieza otro dia llevadero, que muchass veces se convierte de esta manera gracias a vosotros...

  • Great song of a long lost period. Good ole days.

  • A stonker of a track; thanks for posting it.

  • wow it's the fabled madness walk lol i love this band... they're better than anything i've heard from any other musicians

  • take a look at all the comments on here ...says it all .........real music combined with fun ..exellent nutty boys.

  • Chas Smash is just ace in this video and on this track - one of my heroes.

  • band never won a brit award, scandulous!! Considering the lousy Groups they give awards out too it just shows what the organisers know about music. This group more than anyother was a inspiration for me and many others growing up in the late 70s and early 80s in bleak times.Madness dont need an award from the fing Brits, they have the loyal fans behind them who know how good they are and was back then too.

  • so many great memories from this song!!!!!! thanks for posting :)

  • band never won a brit award, scandulous!!

  • So begins another weary day!

  • the arctic monkeys sampled from this on their song "matador"

  • what a superb video !

    love these guys...

  • For such a London-identified band, with singers who sang with heavy Cockney accents, Madness' songs communicated well beyond England. It's not hard, as someone not from the U.K., to grasp the pathos in tracks likes "Grey Day" and "Tomorrow's Just Another Day". Madness' music had some real depth beneath their "nutty" image.

  • i love this song but i think suggs shirtless is the highlight ;)

  • Suggs = Biff Tannen from Back to the Future!!

  • I can see it, suggs is better tho :P

  • top song

  • This is definitely one of their better records. Released in spring 1981 when high unemployment was rife and slum riots were just around the corner. The mood of this song fits the era perfectly but the meaning completely passed me by at the time. I was only ten though. The tubular bells are cool.

  • too davie cranston in edinburgh..i know this is your fav son get in touch chris lee.

  • i think there walk is the coolestt

  • Totally underated musically ! Could only be BRITISH eh ! My mates and me used to do that walk on the way to school HaHa !! Classic !

  • the best. can't beat em.

  • Enjoy this, not the usual uplifting sing along eastend kness up pearly king and queen jellied ells type of madness tune but good all the same thought thier first album was a modern classic.

  • Yeah, no Chas n Dave 'ere! One of their best tho! Bed & Breakfast Man!

  • Was a big USA Madness fan in high school sans 1980, this is maybe my fav song of there's because I could identify with it. Never saw the video once in knowing this song for 25 years, thats really cool that I see it now and it's really good! THANKS!!!!!

  • Blur's favorite clip in 1995.

  • Quite ironic really. Sums up what its like living in the UK - wet - depressing - sinking house prices - rip off petrol - kids killing each other. Next time you are in the rush hour just look at the peoples faces and so begins another weary day ;0(

  • yer but we still have madness!

  • Oh my God! If you Look at the scene where he is under the umbrella, there are a load of kids dancing. I am the one with the big grin on the left in my favourite body-warmer! I can remember when it was filmed. It was in Hornimans park in Notting Hill.

  • Dont worry about that Simonnh, a lot of kids would have paid thousands to be where you were then, Me included,I wore a red and white lumber jacket in those days, rather you than Me, I would have looked like a right Eejit, your Famous......

You are a Star...They will be showing that video in 50 years time and saying " whose that lovely girl in the body-warmer....

  • I had a parka with a two foot long snorkel....

  • ha ha ,,,deadly,,,
