@zaprudermacphee Fuck you, Cobain was a pussy who is not judged by the intensity of his character but by the age he was when he died. Fuck Nirvana and all of the Kurt Cobain hype. Morrison was a shaman and far surpassed that Seattle hipster.
@Zenhumanist Scots Irish? Most of the Scots and a good part of the Irish (descendants of both) in the US were Scots Irish. Also, his mom's family was Catholic, but I'm not sure about his dad's family. Perhaps his dad's family was Scots and his mom's faqmily was Irish.

He died young just like James dean. I talked to a popular actress who said james
Dean was a terrible actor,, but he died young and he became a cult figure. Jim Morrison wasn;t that good. Well he became a cult figure. His music was the same,, He wasn;t that good.
@MegaDominic64 you don't get the truth about acting by talking to a "popular actress"; whatever the fuck that means anyway. James Dean was a great actor with a presence that people felt before he died. And the Doors were world famous before Jim died. So what the fuck are you talking about saying that they both sucked and are only thought of now as good because they died young? Jim influenced every front man since. The Doors broke down so many barriers and not just in music.
I wish so intently that our society could have saved Jim. He was so intelligent and artistically gifted and was such an accident of the times. I grew up then. And it was such an accidental and tragic loss. We need more Jim Morrisons.
When I was a teenager I used to think it was cool that Jim died at 27. Now that I'm older I feel terrible that he died so young. I genuinely love the guy for making music that lifted me out of my depressed adolescent funks. R.I.P. brother. You will always be remembered.
nice to hear mr. morrison responding quickly and not too lost in thought like always. very different kind of interview from anything i've heard previously
@MrWaldron1974 Morrison would not have chg'd the face of music & broken down so many huge barriers if he was a "drunken baffoon" all the time. It takes alot of strength & preparation to get up in front of huge crowds & dance, sing, & recite free-form poetry to screaming, loud, judgmental individuals. He did more in his 27 years to change the world than 99% of the population do in a lifetime.
I would expect him to say "And what's wrong with Stravinsky?" and what is wrong with Stravinsky? Not my favorite, but don't underrate him. If Jim was dropping names he had more fashionable names he could have dropped. A way to describe the way Jim sounds in this intetview is serious and sobered. He'd been through a lot.
"Epic fail?" for naming a classical composer? Do you really think he was trying to sound intellectual? Maybe he just said "Stravinsky" to connect with someone who was considerably more ignorant of music than he was. More importantly, he said he couldn't even stand to listen to rock anymore.
If I was the interviewer, I would have said, "If you like Stravinsky and Bayburn, would you think there was an influence there in your rock sound from them? cause its complete opposite.
Let me just preface this by stating it's my opinion that Morrison was a brilliant man and wildly talented. However, his attempt to sound intellectual @07:45 by naming classical muscians and then not being able to come up with anyone other than Stravinsky is hilarious! "And um...who's that...Bayburn?" Epic fail, and I'm sure if Morrison were still alive, he'd laugh at his own unsuccesful attempt at pomposity.
@tosetos1 um u may not kno this but when u do drugs alot, you dont remember everything of the top of your head. i doubt he was trying to be pompous he dgaf what people think
This is by far the best interview with Jim I've ever heard! It's so nice to hear him being a bit light-hearted. You really get a sense of his personality. It's great! Thanks for sharing! Love my Jim.
@thepuppetstv ooh!! Yeah very very stupid, I can't even say that or someone wants to change it everyone is always so nice when no one knows who it is..
Personally, I'm very unimpressed with the interview-er. You don't really learn anything new and are provided with very little insight. But, that's not the worst of it ...
Throughout the conversation, Morrison is bailing out irony like water from a sinking boat. Yet, the interviewer fails to recognize what's happening. it's sad, really. And excellent opportunity gone to waste, since Morrison was clearly in the mood to talk.
@willywillyization Society needs its poets and drunkards and madmen. They are our court jesters. They remind us that we are real.
Morrison used to say that he thought of himself as intelligent and sensitive, but he had the soul of a clown which betrayed him into doing stupid things at the most inappropriate moments. I think there's a lot of truth in that.
To me, Morrison was a provocateur whose dance with reality wasn't very "nice". It was like shackling yourself to a seizure victim.
I'm Roger Houston of the Talking Stick, Venice Beach, California 90291, and I am convinced that Jim was excessively honest, to the point of intimidation. He simply appreciated reality in such a way as making the realization of anything its own reward, and this scares the hell out of commoners.
@Faeden I think Jim didn't care for the ass-kissing, that wouldn't have been something he'd respect, but he was treated very badly for awhile, and he didn't care for that, either. He felt that he was being thrown under the bus, and if you remember, at Isle of Wight, he was very disgusted by (probably disappointed with) hippies, who he called "leeches."
@Dakota23750 I have been guessing she is a niece. That could be wrong; his sister is on the blonde side, and his brother maybe a little lighter-haired than Jim, and Jim was kind of blonde as a child. She could be just the daughter of a friend, or someone he spent a little time with one day.
