  • oddly similar delivery to cobain

  • @zaprudermacphee Fuck you, Cobain was a pussy who is not judged by the intensity of his character but by the age he was when he died. Fuck Nirvana and all of the Kurt Cobain hype. Morrison was a shaman and far surpassed that Seattle hipster.

  • I thought Jim Morrison was of Scottish extraction.

  • @Zenhumanist Scot-Irish.

  • @Zenhumanist Scots Irish? Most of the Scots and a good part of the Irish (descendants of both) in the US were Scots Irish. Also, his mom's family was Catholic, but I'm not sure about his dad's family. Perhaps his dad's family was Scots and his mom's faqmily was Irish.

  • @MegaDominic64 you don't get the truth about acting by talking to a "popular actress"; whatever the fuck that means anyway. James Dean was a great actor with a presence that people felt before he died. And the Doors were world famous before Jim died. So what the fuck are you talking about saying that they both sucked and are only thought of now as good because they died young? Jim influenced every front man since. The Doors broke down so many barriers and not just in music.

  • I wish so intently that our society could have saved Jim. He was so intelligent and artistically gifted and was such an accident of the times. I grew up then. And it was such an accidental and tragic loss. We need more Jim Morrisons.

  • When I was a teenager I used to think it was cool that Jim died at 27. Now that I'm older I feel terrible that he died so young. I genuinely love the guy for making music that lifted me out of my depressed adolescent funks. R.I.P. brother. You will always be remembered.

  • nice to hear mr. morrison responding quickly and not too lost in thought like always. very different kind of interview from anything i've heard previously

  • @gjt696 mr morrison is simply put a drunken baffon. But I love him

  • @MrWaldron1974 how can you think of mr morrison like that little mind

  • @MrWaldron1974 Morrison would not have chg'd the face of music & broken down so many huge barriers if he was a "drunken baffoon" all the time. It takes alot of strength & preparation to get up in front of huge crowds & dance, sing, & recite free-form poetry to screaming, loud, judgmental individuals. He did more in his 27 years to change the world than 99% of the population do in a lifetime.

  • The day I heard that Jim Morrison died I got drunk and got arrested of profanity lol

  • @SkullCrusher323 dude that is epic!

  • I would expect him to say "And what's wrong with Stravinsky?" and what is wrong with Stravinsky? Not my favorite, but don't underrate him. If Jim was dropping names he had more fashionable names he could have dropped. A way to describe the way Jim sounds in this intetview is serious and sobered. He'd been through a lot.

  • "Epic fail?" for naming a classical composer? Do you really think he was trying to sound intellectual? Maybe he just said "Stravinsky" to connect with someone who was considerably more ignorant of music than he was. More importantly, he said he couldn't even stand to listen to rock anymore.

  • he couldnt cause he was always fuck up you got love jim

  • he hated dylan, and so do i,sooooo overated!!!!!!!!!!cleshay shit music............

  • If I was the interviewer, I would have said, "If you like Stravinsky and Bayburn, would you think there was an influence there in your rock sound from them? cause its complete opposite.

  • shame on those people that drink alot,, what what, 99

  • As I was growing up most of the girls I was with was because they said I looked like Jim awesome man that I had wish could see him live,

  • This dude is so fucking awesome it would be a fucking huge pleasure to have a conversation with him.

  • who is the girl thats next to Jim Morrison?

  • Let me just preface this by stating it's my opinion that Morrison was a brilliant man and wildly talented. However, his attempt to sound intellectual @07:45 by naming classical muscians and then not being able to come up with anyone other than Stravinsky is hilarious! "And um...who's that...Bayburn?" Epic fail, and I'm sure if Morrison were still alive, he'd laugh at his own unsuccesful attempt at pomposity.

  • @tosetos1 LOL! Yeah, I thought that was funny, too. Maybe Jim was just pulling the guy's leg after making fun of the dude's idol, Dylan.

  • @tosetos1 um u may not kno this but when u do drugs alot, you dont remember everything of the top of your head. i doubt he was trying to be pompous he dgaf what people think

  • Jim was/is considered to be a 'genius' (high IQ)...WHAT I love about this interview, is that One can sense how intelligent he was...!

  • Es lo mas grande!! live de thoors

  • @cristianespinoza1974 de thoors? WTF

  • Great to hear Jim Morrison talking in this casual way. He was (is) a legend. Wish a could have see the Doors live.

  • I could almost feel sorry for the very out-classed interviewer.

  • @faeden thanks for sharing this...it's wild hearing morrison talking in this very casual, relatable manner....just awesome!

  • " They go in your house at night and uh, shoot you and your whole family" hahaha gotta love him:D

  • @lebronjunnyor23 love that film.

  • That kind of intelligence is rare. Miss it!

    Great post.

  • hey why dont we get a band together and BOOM The Doors a legend life is funny.

  • "In Frankfurt, they were quite rude" LOL!

  • Reminds me of Marlon Brando (Captai Kurtz) in Apocalypse Now.

  • I'm going out on a limb here, but I think the interviewer loves Knishes.

  • sounds like a nice fella. why is the interviewer so uptight and defensive....go with it pal.!

  • @wooders1000

    -D agree

  • i've read that jim morrison was quite a shy person when he wasn't drunk. he seems to choose his words very carefully. almost painfully so.

  • "Gee what a great guy" ...absolutely was. Jim Morrison...American.

  • A true original....very rare indeed. Thanks Jim.

  • This is by far the best interview with Jim I've ever heard! It's so nice to hear him being a bit light-hearted. You really get a sense of his personality. It's great! Thanks for sharing! Love my Jim.

  • cool interview..rip jim

  • LOL Jim was having fun at the end there, love that guy.

  • I LOVE the picture at 3:11

  • nice stuff

  • there are just no dislikes on this video, i like this:)

  • @CharleyenRoos look what you did! now someone clicked dislike!! why, bro??/ why???

  • @thepuppetstv ? I don't understand

  • @thepuppetstv ooh!! Yeah very very stupid, I can't even say that or someone wants to change it everyone is always so nice when no one knows who it is..

  • @CharleyenRoos exactly!! the minute you said that someone hit dislike just to be different...merry christmas!!! God bless!

  • I think the interviewer likes bagels.

  • @thepuppetstv hahaha i laughed out loud when i read that

  • @XLshred which comment, bra? the knishes? lol

  • Great fucking upload..thnx bro

  • Personally, I'm very unimpressed with the interview-er. You don't really learn anything new and are provided with very little insight. But, that's not the worst of it ...

Throughout the conversation, Morrison is bailing out irony like water from a sinking boat. Yet, the interviewer fails to recognize what's happening. it's sad, really. And excellent opportunity gone to waste, since Morrison was clearly in the mood to talk.

    FAX

  • @FAX335 I AM TOTALLY IMPRESSED BY HIS BRILLIANCE AND CALM!

  • @willywillyization Society needs its poets and drunkards and madmen. They are our court jesters. They remind us that we are real.

Morrison used to say that he thought of himself as intelligent and sensitive, but he had the soul of a clown which betrayed him into doing stupid things at the most inappropriate moments. I think there's a lot of truth in that.

To me, Morrison was a provocateur whose dance with reality wasn't very "nice". It was like shackling yourself to a seizure victim.

    FAX

  • I'm Roger Houston of the Talking Stick, Venice Beach, California 90291, and I am convinced that Jim was excessively honest, to the point of intimidation. He simply appreciated reality in such a way as making the realization of anything its own reward, and this scares the hell out of commoners.

  • @rfwagnerjr THAT'S WHAT MAKES HIM BRILLIANT

  • The little girl in the picture at 3:14 is so cute :)!

  • @Faeden I think Jim didn't care for the ass-kissing, that wouldn't have been something he'd respect, but he was treated very badly for awhile, and he didn't care for that, either. He felt that he was being thrown under the bus, and if you remember, at Isle of Wight, he was very disgusted by (probably disappointed with) hippies, who he called "leeches."

  • @Dakota23750 I have been guessing she is a niece. That could be wrong; his sister is on the blonde side, and his brother maybe a little lighter-haired than Jim, and Jim was kind of blonde as a child. She could be just the daughter of a friend, or someone he spent a little time with one day.

  • Thanks for posting this. Refreshing to hear Jim stone sober, himself, and not sedated. Awesome. Also, amazing, not much has changed in Mexico from then to today. Same thing going on now in Juarez, and Tiujana. Just watch CNN and Fox News. Interesting.......

  • @jpcmd Jim is referring to the massacre at Tlatelolco...do a youtube search and you'll learn about it...i lived in mexico city for a bit a few years back...was at the same site during an anniversary of the massacre..was fucking madness..we nearly got trampled by rushing crowds.

  • @thepuppetstv Wow....still insanity there now. Just heard they had a massive shootout during a high school game between gangs and govt. w/ people trapped in-between...terrible.

  • @thepuppetstv Thanks for the info!

  • @dummytree no problem, bra...we got to be nicer to each other in this world. Happy New Year!! I still think this interviewer loves his knishes.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, maybe 'koz Kathy (the Doors secretary) is Italian-American.

  • I always was a JM fan but what did he mean at the end of the interview when he said "...except for the Italians" and then they all start laughing.

  • @sunshineshine77 I was a big JM fan, too :)!!!!

  • Nice interview. JDM,a great blues-rock singer, cerebral cat. RIP ,Mojorisin.

  • who did howard say he liked the Best when jim asked him? i could not hear it b/c they were both talking

  • @Guitarlove420 I have it on CD and played it a thousand times. lol

I think Howard said "Bob Dylan":)

  • @dummytree Which is why they start talking about Dylan afterwards too.

  • there are things people didnt no bout him theres a tape that has never been found only seen twice after that who knows what happened to it it had people who we know today evan famous as on it if only i could come across it again :) i mean these people nw days who we praise frm singers to people up there in the world would not be in there places if this video had have been found and aired live and thats all i got to say :)

  • hes the man!

  • Howard Smith, from the Village Voice, is asking the questions.

  • This interview is magnificent! I can't get enough of it.

  • Thnx!

  • aw! who is the girl playing with his hair?

  • does anyone know who the girl playing with his hair was? also, there used to be a video with a clip of it and I've never been able to find it again. thanks.

  • @bearswilleatme im not 100% but i think maybe Ray and Dorethy Manzerak's daughter

  • @TheKenney81 .....Get a blood test and get back to us....

  • @dakota23750 .........what are you saying?

  • @bearswilleatme .....hi did you ever find out who the little girl is who made Jim so happy?? Ray & Dorothy do not have a daughter they have 2 sons...the video clip with the little girl is in the doors dvd When You're Strange!! have you seen that? if not it is really good..she is with him & i'm almost positive they were all on a plane at the time..i have wondered this for so long..if you ever find out please let me know...thanks peace Dakota

  • Jim sound's so together in this interview and seems to be much more at ease then in most I've heard Thanx 4 the post!

  • These are great, these old interview tapes. Cuz I grew up in the 80s listening to the Doors and hearing Jim make the big statements on stage ("I am the Lizard King" and all that), but I never got to hear him just have a normal conversation, in normal time, with anyone. In many respects, he just comes off as a normal dude (or at least he talks like one). Thanks for the posts.

  • only part of the interview where i thought jim was being disingenuous was when he claimed to be 150 lbs.

c'mon morrison...you weighed more than that

  • that's about the only people i hang around with, except for the italians.

  • Everybody likes Bob Dylan <333

  • Kathy and Frank Lisciandro were both Jim-groupies, I guess you could call them "friends", but ......Frank has leeched off Morrison's popularity for decades. His main claim to fame is that they were "friends".

What friend makes money off his relationship to a dead man and then calls it "tribute"?

  • @diplomatiks Yeah I agree I would have been friends with the "Real" JIm Morrison, Not Jim Morrison the Rock star.and Do you know who that little girl is in the picture with Jim at 5:06? I always wondered who she was. She kinda looks like him.Is that his Niece?

  • @diplomatiks After people like Jim die, they come out of the woodwork. Never fails

  • who did the interviewer say he liked the best around the 7 minute mark?

  • @Macknsteez Bob

  • @Macknsteez Dylan, Bob Dylan

  • @Macknsteez Dylan

  • @Macknsteez Bob Dylan I believe

  • I think they laughed because maybe when Jim mentioned hanging around with Italians, Frank Lisciandro might have been there possibly. There was also another Italian guy who worked for the Doors and was close to Jim too. Anyone?

  • I have to say that I am very grateful for this upload!! I will treasure it always! I am a very HUGE fan of both the doors and Jim

  • thank you for the posting of this interview.......i have read it in Jerry Hopkins book , The Lizard King: The essential Jim Morrison......its one thing to read, but listening to it almost makes it almost surreal, i also got to view it with my son.....we are big fans of the doors, and having the opportunity to learn more about one of the most influential person and band in our lives is great....so thank you very much for this post......the quality of it almost makes u feel like u r there

  • Thanks for this. Very informative.

  • Morrison doesn't get credit for the great sense of humor he had - it seems like too many people overlook that and spend their time trying to figure out the extent of his drug use, whether or not he's still alive, or other such nonsense.

Again, thanks for a great post.

  • @SergeantReese well he shure as hell aint alive,he was just a brilliant troubled soul, who left his eternal mark on the world

  • @soonernation69 EXACTLY

  • Marvelous interview. Thank you so much for posting it.

  • i respect the interviewer for challenging jim...jim even appreciated it

  • @daneiladams Yes, I think he did, Jim probably got fed up of of people ass kissing him and treating him differently from everyone else as it was fake. The women in the room, I am not sure who she is, sounds like she laughs just for the sake of it, like a fake laugh to crawl up to Jim, I bet Jim had that his whole professional career, and probably hated it.

  • @Faeden im not sure if it helps but the the one lady in the background, (Kathy)....Kathy Lisciandro the Doors secretary, and Jims friend Frank Lisciandro's wife........ I would imagine tho, alot of people laughed like that to try and please Jim........Well thanks again for posting this, i appreciate it have a good 1

  • @Faeden She was Kathy Lisciandro, The Doors' secretary.

  • this is a really good save here, i noticed alot of what jim says about being heavy in school etc etc. was used in the movie the doors and again in the documentary when youre strange

  • This interviewer is such a fuckin twat!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for this, i had never heard the full interview

  • @NathFilms No problem, your the first to comment on this interview, so thank you to you.
