Why the hell would the wolf take in the lamb after the lamb swore to kill the wolf one day? Hell, why didn't the wolf eat Chirin before he grew up? He'd be a very easy meal.
@TheAtroxious I'm pretty sure the wolf is accepting that something or other will be killing him one day. He's old, after all. I think part of the subtle beauty in the story is that the wolf doesn't really know why he's taken pity on Chirin, but he has, even if it means his death some day.
@WhiteWolfWings This movie was symbolic of Japan during WW 2 when the Emperor forced all the men to go to war while only the women & children stayed home." Lambert the Sheepish Lion" was the Emperor's favorite film and this movie was a statement to him
Back in the old days the 70s anime historians would have picked up on these references but nowadays only Wolfaboos watch this movie in order to see a Wolf jump up and down and hopefully show his penis
I wonder what was going through the wolf's mind when he heard Chirri say he was going to kill him someday. He doesn't seem like the type to laugh it off. But more the type to see if that's true. Very wise and understanding.
If anyone has seen One Piece, this reminds of how White Beard had killed Ace's family and Ace swore revenge. White Beard eventually made Ace his apprentice while Ace still tries to kill him, but Ace eventually warms up to him.
Aw. What a nice terrifying wolf... lol

@WhiteWolfWings For the sake of symbolism! In order to acheive absolute beauty in art you have to break some rules.

@WhiteWolfWings they leave the mothers to take care of their young alone and go to live a life on their own.

If Chirin wasn't immune to falling off rocky cliffs, he would VERY well be dead from internal bleeding and several broken bones.

I love how the running deer aren't even touching the ground half the time, and that one keeps jerking like it's having a seizure or something. xD

@cloudgirl150 Seriously. What basically happened is this: Chirin: Hey, can you train me to kill you. Wolf: yeah sure kid, whatever.
