  • The freighters should run passenger service. Why dont they? Cost? Regulations? Apathy?

  • @kirby4d Well for one on the Philly Sub, the line featured in this video, I'm sure CSX doesn't want to worry about any regular passenger service taking priority over CSX's freight trains, or worrying about frequently doing track work to ensure that passenger trains would run as safely as possible/on-time.

  • @Train9632W I mean put two or three cars on the end or beginning or whatever. like in the old days.

  • @kirby4d Yeah I hear you..haha

  • I bet the nazi's used a similar set up. Something brewing here people!!!

  • Maybe..haha

  • Oh neat, a CSX caboose. That's how they roll:)

  • Nah those aren't cabooses..lol

  • It could also be possible that Bombardier paid CSX to deliver the Comet VIs to NJTs property from Bombardiers factory once they wer finished being built. Rail cars are delivered by freight service from their factories to their buyers. Its just like how new transit buses are driven from the factory to the transit authority who is purchasing them.

  • Yeah could be..

  • yeah there is only 1 cabcar here

  • Yup..lol

  • Cab 7003 and coach car 7516

  • the reason why those two NJT cars are there is because they needed to be transported to the closest maintenance facility

  • Ah..

  • Those two cars were being delivered, and were mistakenly routed to selkirk. took us weeks to get em back.

  • If they were going to Selkirk why are they going south??

  • They went to....I wanna say Norfolk, then to selkirk, then finally to MMC @ Kearny.

  • Weird route..

  • I agree. We were....Unpleased...to say the least.

  • Ha..

  • Thats crazy r those new double deckers being delivered to NJ Transit?

  • I had no idea..lol

  • wow....i was actually in the cab car 7003 today., going down to Princeton. wow. that is awesome.

  • Interesting..lol

  • I got a Vid of Cab car 7009

  • Neat..

  • It would be neat if tey had HEP and just sit back, relax, and have a long train ride! (hopefully one would have a bathroom!)

  • Haha..

  • Once a year amtrak takes a few NJ transit cars from NYC to DC for some kinda convention or somethin. Forget the details, but i'm pretty sure that's not what this is. Sometimes they also send cars to various locations for safety and other testing.

  • Yea it is not uncommon for cars being transported on freight trains to be mis-routed or not dropped off at their correct destinations and end up at the next terminal or 2 away. Most likely these cars were on a misroute and will have to get sent back up north on another train. Your dont notice untill now since the NJT cars stand out, but it happens to freight cars every day.

  • speaking of unusual, NS ran a train on the Pittsburgh Line that had a P42 Genesis Metro North Locomotive, that was heading east to New York {The train was spotted at Horseshoe Curve

  • LOL and they have a random covered hopper on the end too!

  • covered hopper on end not random - can't hang a marker properly on equipment with tight-lock couplers - so must have car behind.

  • Great Video! I believe only NJ Transit ordered them. These cars were ordered custom by NJ Transit to meet the height restrictions at the Hudson River Tunnels into New York.

  • Thanks bud..But why are they headed south away from Jersey if NJ Transit ordered them??

  • Now that you mentioned that the cars were moving south I don't know unfortuinately.

  • Yeah my buddy and I thought that MARC or VRE possibly wanted to test them before NJ Transit got them or they could have been going down to a car shop in Baltimore or D.C. for maitnance or service..lol

  • Theres apparently a CSX interchange point with NJT in Philadelphia. Some, however, had made it to points south by accident.

  • Oh I see, still rather strange that they were sent to the south..

  • One of em made it down to Baltimore once. Two were left in N. Philadelphia and were tagged by the locals. CSX took the blame for that one.

  • Certainly a rather unusual situation..

  • Those are probably being delivered or taken to a shop. They have been running test trains on NJ Transit
