I wouldn't have mind listening to Lee's version even if it was a changed up version, but if you're gonna make the song your own, you have to be spot on with it and near perfect. Lee was far from that in his version of Hallelujah, he messed up on notes, strained his voice, and sure he showed heart, but he also showed how bad he could be if with notes not within his range.

@sunnydog11 the judges were horrible when it came to Lee, they wanted him to win so badly that even when it was obvious he did bad, they would always find something good to say about him and not care about how bad he was. the judges were selling the guy to the audience that he was good when really he wasn't, that's why they didn't say anything bad, they didn't want america to think he was bad. those that listened to Lee sing instead of the judges talk knows that Lee was average at best.

Well, I read a lot of comments here saying that Lee's version was much better. So I looked up the video, gave it go, and I must say I didn't care much for it. He shouted the song much more than he sang it and that's not how I want to hear "Hallelujah".

I did however care quite a bit for Tim's version: much more heartfelt, much more real, low musical setting (one simple guitar),... Just way I like to hear this song.

I have no idea why, but the judges kept pushing for Lee and downing Tim. I think Tim's version was so pure, soulful and simple and honest, just like Jeff Buckley sang it . Tim's beautiful heart and soul really came through on this song. Liked his version so much better than the other guy (WHO!) There is no logic the assessment that because Tim did not make it past number 7 he is not an awesome singer. Chris Daughtrey did not make it past number 5 and Kellie Pickler was eliminated earlier than Chris. Both of them are more dynamic and better in their art than the winner that year. Being eliminated does not indicate you are a bad singer.
