Wow! I've never seen so accurate a visual depiction of what I see in the prodrome stage of a vascular migraine! Imagine seeing this video superimposed over your field of vision and you'll know exactly what it's like.
Watching this guy smoke makes my left lung hurt! What's up with your eyebrow movements? Your not exclusionary, tolerant of each others personality, bored detectives are you?

@nevereveranything You are absolutely right! Fur Immer is what came to mind when I first listened to Super Electric. Stereolab is one of the greatest bands around and perhaps the only band that pays hommage to krautrock and vintage lounge so well. A truly great band.
First time I saw this was at about 2 in the morning on MTV2's 120 minutes, I had already heard bands like RIDE and My Bloody Valentine and this literally blew my head off and changed my life instantly,
@zemechanism No, it didn't LITERALLY blow your head off. Perhaps it figuratively did....but not literally :) If you're not a native English speaker, that sort of mistake it tolerable. If you are....c'mon.....
@tnrc75 yeah, but when you use literally at the place figuratively should be correctly used, you are adding another quality to the meaning, i.e. expressivity. Try it.
Using figuratively, the sentence is sterile, devoid of emotion. Using literally, you cannot avoid the feeling of accent, you can literally see the face and the whole body of the speaker spitting the word at you. Remember that language rules are abstractions from the language that is being used, and in the same fashion as
It's a fact At the most uninvolved Unexpected moment The most inopportune Some see the flesh Before they see the bones Some see the bones before Before they see the flesh To Explain I was meant to exorcise Explain, I was meant to exorcise orn to pieces limb from limb from there be broken beyond repair here's what the "pebble" of reforging some... mention at easy failure Some never see the bones at all Some never see the flesh at all Some never see the flesh at all Oh never never flesh at all
Best band of the 90,s went to see them in Glasgow 07 the most amazing experience. Meeting Latita after the gig was cool very nice person. Would love to see them again but that is looking unlikely :( who knows
@jockojonson17 Do you mean the Farfisa organ? It might have a distortion effect onboard. If not, it's simply run through an external one. You can make a basic organ sound like an analogue synth if you process its signal with a set of analogue FX. A phase shifter / delay combination gives you a classic 'ambient' sound (similar to that found in the 4th part of 'Jenny Ondioline') while playing around with an octave shifter produces interesting artifacts if applied to the right chords.
I'm not a long-term fan, but the body language at the beginning was really uncomfortable. In one minute they gave the impression they hated each other.
lekstar - I agree, although I like evertything they've done, I vastly prefer the NEU!- influenced stuff up to about 1995/96. After that they lacked the intensity you get in tracks like this that pick you up and transport you to another place... :)
This song is an SSRI: a selective SONIC reuptake inhibitor...it keeps the frequencies flowing between the neural epicenters for longer....This never gets old.
chillidogdupree - Stereolab would be proud to elicit a comment such as that I'm sure! (Sonic Reuptake Inhibitor sounds like a song title of theirs!) I'm going to have to do a bit a research now to find out what you're on about... I'm sure you're right though.
I definitely experienced a lot of selective Sonic reuptake inhibitating during their Mars Audiac quintet tour in a small club in Copenhagen...One of the best gigs in my life!
from wikipedia: On 2nd April 2009 Stereolab manager Martin Pike posted a message on the band's website, announcing that after 19 years the band would go into hiatus as "there are no plans to record new tracks". =(
wish they still wrote trancey pounding (live it rocks so hard - saw many times in the early 90s) songs like this instead of that loopy dotty lounge music.
I just heard french disko on the radio, Iv'e heard it a few times and assumed it was a modern classic, just discovered they have been around for years! wow I'm slow
and, yes, i agree. they are fantastic. saw them open up for air in Los Angeles. brilliant. found out that they opened up for cocteau twins European tour in '94. What I would have done to been there.........
I agree to all of the above, i'v been jam'n these dude's for like 13years and a friend has just bought me from the u.s.a the greatest hits album with dvd and holy fuck i will play this to the day i die.....
This is the music our space travelling decendants will be listening to as they explore some other star system on the other side of the galaxy.

I cant toss about 10% of all of Stereolab's stuff in the rubbish pile. The remaining 90% I can listen to for an eternity.
