  • Very nice. Thanks for the explanation. :) Any other videos you might to watch or do you know of any other good videos to watch with regard to primarily: What is Ruby on Rails? What can it do? etc.

    Great stuff! :)

  • good stuff

  • Hey, sorry about the links - looks like Cogent took them down. I've updated the description so no one else gets confused.

  • Where are the rest of the videos? The link in the desc no longer works, and your personal web page doesn't containing these videos.

  • hey, the screencasts are gone. Either update your description or try putting them back on as per the given url.

  • Excellent presentation, thanks :)

  • Nice job!!! Really liked the tone of the talk.

  • thank you so much

  • I liked this - you should upload the next in the series of talks!

  • Good intro to RoR. I am a DataWarehousing guy who has been bitten by the ROR framework. Currently learning the same and very soon coming out with an application.

  • haha, you cut and pasted your comments o.O

You could have used Ruby to do that for you. gawd.

  • That's a pretty fair comment, my flatmate made the same observation. In those 9 months - 2 were spent backpacking around south america, then my full time job as well (and in IT, full time is very full time), other dotnet work on the side, moving in with my girlfriend, and planning a move to europe.

Learning a new language well and deploying in a new environment while the rest of life marches on - if it wasn't easy I wouldn't have bothered :)

  • @jrbarton first of all I enjoyed this video a lot and I am jealous of your regular ror meetings, they would so sweet.

im just finishing my 4th and final year of a software engineering degree at otago uni, iv been developing with android all year for a project, and have finally learnt refactoring and mvc pattern coding style and just look back at my other coding and laugh.

  • @jrbarton pretty much want to do the same thing you did next year on my oe. i head to melb on the 3rd of jan and want to work at the casino while cranking out some of my ideas on ror, all the while saving for my oe after grad in may. maybe i could attend your users group?

  • Great little video. Thanks for posting it!
