fuck that shit i was just in tamms work camp. i've cleaned up their pods before over there. tha place is a fuckin hell hole there water was running out brown n their yard is a small room with 4 concrete walls and a cage at the top you can see out of with fuckin a buncha frogs and dead birds in there. and it smells like fucking shit.

Due process stops after conviction. Prisoners are committed individuals who are allowed law library access, commissary purchases, visits, showers, and basic survival necesities. Due process is not the matter of the institution or dept., but that of courts.

Many have been in Tamms for YEARS - because the process for transfer out is ALSO not clear. Many of the inmates will indeed return to society, after enduring a situation that would drive anyone crazy. Do I believe in punishment and rehabilitation? Yes. Do I believe in torture and paying huge amounts of money toward no good end? No.

It's secret for a reason, Hello Supermax (maximum security). If they some how managed to move from a max facility to a supermax, obviously they either re-offended in prison, or threatend the security of normal prison facilities and the public/outside ( outside gangs being run in prison). Trust me, I pay taxes and believe that the most danerous should be isloated, and operations of supermax facilities kept secure.

So, you are better at catching "crimanils", huh? Well, it's spelled "criminals" and, for the record, they aren't "animals". At least 3 I know of (possibly more) are my brothers in CHRIST. I also voted Democrat and do agree it is a bit costly to pay $60,000 a year when the state could just clean up other places, such as Menard, and house inmates there for much less in a safer environment....and, then, invest more in education.

First, no one is sent to Tamms for their crime. Secondly, no one is in the position to be able to say that prisoners are transferred to Tamms "for a reason." That is because there are no clear criteria for transfer, and the reasons for transfer to the supermax is secret and not open to review. Furthermore, there is plenty of evidence that people have been sent to Tamms for no good reason. Regardless, long-term isolation is a form of torture. If you oppose torture, you should oppose Tamms.

We are not in MOST countries. We are in the United States of America, #1 in incarceration....and where young men and women go to battle and even die in battle for human rights...And also in the State of Illinois where taxpayers are paying the bill for what occurs at Tamms and other things, such as social services and education, are losing funding so that Tamms Supermax stays in operation to do what it does.

We are #1 in incarceration because we are #1 in crime. Other countries may be higher but we are better at catching CRIMANILS. I am a democrat, but why should tax payers pay $60,000 per year to house these animals, and bitch about their awfull treatment? Doesn't make sense to me.
