So your telling me that this weapon hasn't been fired scene the late 50's, and that it's been rebuilt from different serviceable parts..and the first two shots you make with it you pull the weapon right up to your face? are you serious ? Your lucky the thing didn't blow up in your face, ever heard of a hip fire ? idiot..

In winter war finnish sniper Häyhä used only iron sights, one of the most succesful snipers in ww2 shot longest enemy at about 450 meters. Luck meaby..
fucking war movies, why the fuck do they always make all weapons look 100times stronger. like pistols with gigantic flame bursting out every single shot.. that NEVER happens lol
@Flori3058 Check out high power service rifle competitions. Every weekend all across the country they are shooting targets at 600 yards with open sighted service rifles. AR15s, M1a, and M1 Garands. (...and they aren't using a bench or bi-pod.) It's challenging, but it's not much different than shooting quarter at 25 yards, just have to allow for windage and elevation at distance.
If you want to give it a whirl, you should come out to an Appleseed Marksmanship clinic. You'll get all the fundamentals necessary to hit a target this size out to 500 yards. Google 'em. It's a lot of fun.

i own a ww2 mauser its 8mm all original markings brought back from the war and its marked year was 1942 i love this gun and was HITLERS fav gun its a marksmens dream assasins choice in hiters words lol
@HPBrowningBoy I have them, I'd just switched out the stock from the cracked version that was on it, so I could shoot it and didn't have them on when I shot the video.
@spitstickler Ok but you might want to replace it then, shooting it like this puts stress on the screws in the magazine housing-trigger guard and after shooting it more often you will notice that it will start to loosen up.
Little mistake! It was called the Einwohnerwehr Bayern. 3 words.. the first two linked. Einwohner (citizen defense and Bavaria) Your translation is correct :)
@BlackAcesFourtyone Thanks for the info. I'd just copied the text out of a book I have on Mausers, so I had no idea other than that. Germans build good guns! :)
@RunningWolf24 in general I would say the K98 would probably be more accurate. It's better built rifle. That isn't to say that the Mosin Nagant can't be accurate. They just don't have the attention to detail. Both were mass produced during the war, but the Mosin Nagant has Lots of machining marks, looser tolerances, etc. Both Germany and Russia has sniper versions of each of the rifles in WW2. The most accurate of the Mosin Nagants is the Finnish version. I much nicer rifle than 91/30
@RunningWolf24 They are all over the map. From around $300ish for a Russian capture to as much as you care to pay. Go over to the gunboards(dot)com forums and you can learn a lot about any of these old rifles.
@MrDeepwaterculture There are always going to be crazy people who make bad decisions that unfortunately impact the innocent. I'm of the same opinion as Benjamin Franklin who said, "Those who would give up liberty to purchase safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

@toskoforce LMAO!! you wont be believed if you dont own one, and if you say you play children's video games, you'll be laughed at by all the gun experts and owners. IN REALITY, the Mauser is regarded as the best bolt action rifle ever made, solid as a rock, laser accurate, enough power to kill a 1200 pound bull moose at 600 yards in a single body hit. One of the best combat rifles of all time. One of my favorites to hunt with.
my dream is to buy one of these when i have the money. im pretty sure there is a bunch of them in surplus stores, but where could i find them and what website could i buy one from.
your stock is meant for a gew 98, the ww1 mauser rifle, it was converted to fit a k98 but cutting down the front end. the stock still has the gew 98 sling swivel attached. is uggest putting the forward and rear bands on your repacemant stock , to help with accuracy and prevent damage to the stock. nice rifle.

@CrazyVideoGamer815 the gewehr44 was more of a assault rifle though, and im saying the kar98k was basically the only known long-range weapon to the axis.
@gtaisawesome87 No, it's similar to .308/.30-06/7.62x54R. 12 gauge isn't bad recoil at all. These things will leave a nice bruise on your shoulder if you don't shoulder it all the way.
@bentenren you sound like you are a call of duty fan? if im wrong forgive me for insulting you the k98k was a good weapon and a bad weapon the caliber was great the sights sucked for night fighting. but the aristica the bolt was difficult to operate and the sights still sucked so take your pick

The Mosin Nagant 91/30 is alright, not really known for being exceptional. Mass produced and readily available anywhere.
Arisaka had airplane sights. Anyone delusional enough to think they can shoot down airplanes with a rifle...
Springfield '03 used the Mauser bolt design from the Gewehr 1898, so that really leaves you with...
The 98k being the best of the bunch
