  • I would have loved this back then.. looks so great.

  • In response to the comment below, this particular copy was from VHS footage purchased at the Spokane Portland and Seattle Railway Historical Society swap meet that is held yearly at the airport. It was in a box of tapes, which included other Portland traction topics. There was no attribution on the tape, nor anyway possible to ascertain its source. Asking around, I heard about it being retrieved from a dumpster. Obviously of historic importance, I decided to share it, with no financial gain.

  • This is a clip from the traffic study series discovered by Portlander Rudy Zvarich. This film has since been restored digitally, with speed correction. The film was indeed found in a trash dumpster.

  • wow.. traffic control cops. Those really did exist at one time!

  • Seems to be working as well or better than it does today, without all the traffic control.... hmmm.

  • DAMN. ALL them cars are Tight!..They needed crosswalks BAAD!!

  • Yeah... No traffic control - and this is downtown!
