  • the pylon crash is insignificant near the "low pass". He almost hit his wing.

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we enjoy sports related to aviation and flying?

    (2) How does aviation sports benefits our well-being (physically and emotionally)?

    (3) Why do some females like aviation sport but others do not?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative dieas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • DAMN!! Change of underwear anyone?

  • what planes are those pilots flying?

  • @yakovlev3a 300 Extra's

  • That guy just got lucky!!!!

  • Booooooo!!!!!!

  • Camera man Noob..

  • whats mad is the camera man waving the camera around....shit i'd rather pull the 9 Gs myself than watch this again.

  • I think that of any sport or gathering of people for a show, the announcers ones at air show or redbull air race are the most annoying.

  • the commentators voice is a bit mad!

  • tu sais pas filme ou koi ?????

  • Dang that was close! Lucky him! Things could of been much much worse! Oh he has skills!

  • someone smart please help me

    this video was good i8

  • good for you!

  • uhh thank god there air filled

  • people dying wouldnt be funny

  • "people dying wouldnt be funny"

    Unless it was Volker001...

  • then it would be hilarious

  • but goulian! search for 'gone wrong! goulian close to death'

  • mike mangold never does that

  • try to have the camera still next time

  • that was sooooooooooooooooo close

  • I always wondered what would happen if one of them hit a pylon.

  • Same by me. But now we know! ;-)

  • Holy... - what a capture! I thought San Diego was the ultimate venue for the Air Race, but after seeing your vid I have changed my mind!

    I love this race series!

  • You can enjoy eight more races this year!

  • what a fucking amazing view !!!!!!!!!!!!for a sport

  • I remember that. It was an amazing race.

  • Why would the course direct the plane over the crowd?

  • Because it sucks when their so far away you can hardly see the planes. Witch is the way it usually is on most courses. I prefer to be in the thick of it, even if it is a little more dangerous! I've never been to an airplane race though, but seeing most the vids here on youtube. i don't want to.

  • it doesen't, he just flew out over the crowd. he hit a pylon for crying out loud!

  • Wow. Must be a tough job to have the course close enough but still have some degree of safety

  • its dangerous sport

  • So is dragracing, formula 1, boatracing, K1 fighting, mountclimbing, bungee jumping, skateboarding, streeraces, motorcross.... so what is your point?

  • Most things fun ARE dangerous.

  • I think the point, Anacinc, is that there's far more potential to maim people, should something nasty happen. Bungee jumping, motocross, mountainclimbing etc; these won't affect anyone, only the characters involved.

  • I was in Interlaken (Switzerland) between Mountains and lakes ;) that was great, but monument valley was great too i think... i see it on TV

  • i was there! HA! wait.. socal?

  • That's what makes it a sport. If there is no real chance of death or injury it's just a game.

  • 1fact, you need to lighten up. If you dont like it then don't watch these videos. Have a blessed day. If you decide to continue to live your life negatively then go ahead. You dont need to be so angry about things and stop talking so negatively about people. God bless you my friend.

  • Thank you Billy Graham

  • God forbid the inevitible occur!

  • i was watching tv when that happened

    I WAS LIKE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Wow, must be awesome to see it raced over land.

I'm in Perth, where the race is held over water on the river.

  • Doesn't get any closer than that! Its good that Steve Jones has the guts to carry on as he is one of the best of the British pilots.

  • 10 sec penelity when you hit thos there designed to be hit there very easy to rip.

  • Yeah. But holy cow he wasn't far off the ground! The pylons may be forgiving but the ground sure isn't! Yikes!

  • The lower section is not as easyly torn. That contact actually broke some stuff on his plane and cause a brief but major loss of control.

  • wow that guys lucky he is one heck of a pilot

  • i thought that dude was dead when he hit the ballon thing

  • Porto 1/09/07 :+600.000 people

  • He won, brave bloke.

  • tomorrow i go to Porto to see this f1 its past this is the future

  • All The pylons are are a rotating fan blowing air up through a plastic tunnel so when they hit them they dont break their wings off and crash.

  • the pylons are designed so they can break through them easily, he hit the cables though

  • brilliant capture!

  • I agree, they should put paintball guns on them and dog fight

  • what like a back gunners, yeh it would be sweet!! haha

  • neat Idea, but even if they did paintballs dont go fast or far enough to do anything but make art on the deck... If it would work itd be fun to watch !

  • i dont have any experience with the subject but i would speculate that attempting to fire a standard paintball from an aircraft already going 200+ mph would rip the ball apart before it ever got the chance to hit anything. paintballs occasionally come apart leaving the gun as it is.

  • so easy !

  • they are just hacking.

  • wow, he survived! they must make those pylons of somethin crazy!

  • they are inflated with gas, nothing more than cone shaped balloons

  • if you guys have flight sim x you can do all that stuff

  • saw this on tv, he hit hit the pylon so close to the base, he hit the cables which hold the pylon still with the left wheel.

Its why you see the plane get thrown slightly sideways, sure is a lucky fuck tho

  • i've always wanted to see one of these events live but i can never get tickets.

  • Tickets? At least in Perth it's free, you just have to manage to get a spot on the river foreshore.

  • These things can happen at every time

  • Steve Jones certainly wasn't smiling when he was interviewed for British TV. In fact the poor bloke was almost in tears. He blamed himself...said he was distracted and looked inside the cockpit ans lost his spatial awareness for a fraction.

    Lucky man.

  • I was there yeahhhhh ;-)

  • He was smiling because the airplane didn't crash into us. Just like the announcer says, "you can un-pucker right now".

  • it's as if the guy smiling at the end missed it completely, grinning for the camera! Do you think the pilot was also smiling?

  • Damn he was low when he hit that marker!

  • About 10 feet. The still photos of this are downright scary.

  • Note the small piece of pylon hanging from his left wing as he flies overhead. The pylons are made up of a series of rings of lightweight material held together with velcro.
