This video might be 4 years old (as of June,2011, that is) but still the most innovative, original of all the Korg PadKontrol demostrations - Big Time!. Not the horrible repetitive trance/hip hop/euro-disco beats moronically played on YouTube! Well Done! I am definitively learning classical notational formal training because the musical ambitions are more eclectic & complex!
Hey im Ben i randomly bought korg padkontrol im a dj i use sonar7 cant seem to put annything on it realy spent some time trying to figur it out can you give me tips idea?? fcuk_boi69@hotmail.com
this is exactly what iv been looking for, why the hell don't they make like a 6 channel 16 step sequencer as midi device?! so just like a hardware extension of ultrabeat, would be nice!
The links seem to be broken, and I can't find another download source for PK Squared. I've got a mac, so I'm not sure if it will run either. I found Farm Audio though, does that do the same thing for sequencing?
Yep, seems as if the Cover Operators have abandoned the project and deleted all links (including the Max source code which they used to publish some earlier via a thread on the Ableton Forum).
Since this is not my project all you can do is write them a mail and ask about it.
Sorry, I cannot be of any more help on this. We wrote our own Max patches for what we need and we don't use the PK as step-sequencer at all with that.
how do you do shit like this. I've had a padkontrol for forever and have always tried to work on reason with it but have concluded that it's a piece of shit.
You need to be aware that the Windows MME Midi driver of the PK is quite bad. If lots of data/notes are send through it it can drag down all other MME Midi devices of your system.
That's a problem of the driver, not Windows. The OS X drivers don't show these problems. Again that's not because of OS X, but because of better drivers.
I actually dl'ed the pk[] for mackie control and the .als but can't figure how this works as a sequencer? I think it is for mac. And there seems to be more then one pack for pad sequencer too.
Nope, it's for PC and others have developed it further (hence the different packs out there). Search through the Ableton forum, there are some threads about it.
Everyone looking for infos how to set this up, have a look at the following thread on the Ableton forum: "Video: Using padKONTROL as Step-Sequencer in Live"
There are also new versions of the original template developed by other users.
im having some trouble getting this to work. im getting the pads to blink in sequence, but i can not get any sound, not can i get pads i hit to stay lit, they just blink.
Probably yes. The original Live template does not make use of the Padkontrol's native mode, it just sends notes back to the PK to make the corresponding pads light up. If the Microkontrol works the same then you should easily be able to just use the original template and connect your MK instead of a PK.
The original script does not include the demonstrated easy way of switching channels. And since each track (drum-sound) uses another Midi channel that's a convinience you will miss. But maybe changing Midi channels is easier on the MK than on the PK anyway?
Bad sound, but that second "Snare" sound killed the mic and I only recognized later and didn't want to record it again. I will do a better video later once I have digged deeper into this.
i have a pc computer how can i use step sequencer in FL studio does the Pk work in other Software like FL studio

nice is an understatement. the Maschine comes incredibly close to it, but you have to use their software to do the step sequencing, I think....

Dude, that's genious! I want my padKONTROL to do that. That will be a lot cheaper than the Maschine! :)

is it possible to use the pad kontrol on tehe way with a headphone?
qlnoop2 3 years ago
The padKontrol is just a MIDI controller, it has no preloaded sounds. So unless you had a laptop with headphones plugged in, no...

Nice stuff, too bad about the sound. I have a pK but it sits mostly ina bag as I rarely have time to use it or skill for drumming.
