  • Shouldn't the luger be more legal in some tigh-lawed countries since it has and obvious sign that it is unloaded?

  • The 1911 is a superior pistol to the Luger. Larger caliber and the design is just as beautiful.

  • Always make it seem American, it isn't American is it, the man emmigrated from Germany, typical attitude of Americans, full of shit

  • @MegaMrDamo Indeed, even Hiram Maxim, the inventor of the first truly "Automatic" Machinegun, was claimed to be American, while he was actually a citizen.

  • wait did he said everyone who saw it would say "oh yeah thats a luger" uhm NO if i aksed my mom or my friend thomas they wouldnt know it

  • its funny how the amaricans rejected the luger and made there own semi auto gun 1911 and toulk credit for first self loading pistol

  • The animation is wrong at 7:29… the toggle should push the next round off the top of the magazine as it slides forward. The magazine does not push the next round to a position behind the chamber(as shown in the video)…It would fall out!!!

  • Apparently nobody told the writers about the existance of double action revolvers

  • i hope i see no cod talk on this page cus cod dont mean shit when it comes to the study of guns

  • Great video, note at 6:38 the Luger safety latch are seen the other way round(pointing back) where it should be pointing forward

  • the m1911 is better

  • @m1911legend Of course:-)

  • I want a Luger so I can hit targets with my eyes closed too...

  • i see colt 1911 batter then luger

  • The luger is among the most elegant guns I have ever seen. It is the product of the German people's obsession with perfection and beauty.

  • Parabellum doesn´mean Pistol for war The term "Parabellum" comes from the Latin phrase Si vis pacem, para bellum ("If you want peace, prepare for war"),

  • i love my german luger best gun ever made 1936 byf, war bring back by my great grandfather, exept he was a solder for the ss, he fled the country after the war with his family.

  • @zero48411 its like a Rolex watch which was also developed by a German and not by a swiss hahah

  • the borchardt looks cooler in my opinion

  • the never was a great american invention it was the germans do belive me look it up nefus 1988 you are a dumb ass who said it was an american gun

  • the desinger lived in germany and named after him the luger its was created by the germans also

  • the nintendo 64 pause menu music is inappropriate

  • this is shit. tales of the gun, shown in the uk, uses all the same footage, the same theme tune, but a different narrator, and it's so much better. the guy doesn't just make stuff up, he actually tells you the facts, and doesn't make an attempt to link every minuscule achievement to either the bible, america, or both.

  • 09:32 "Lugers roots are actually american"

Just becuse he worked in an american factory and became inspirated my the maxim gun, the Luger counts as an american invention? Hahhahahahaha!

  • @Nefus1988 no were in the vid those it say that.

  • it has an american root, but still invented by a german, what a way to take the credit of such a masterpice americans...

  • @tuchicilina Thanks. We do what we can.

  • @tuchicilina there not taking anything away from it , you drama queen ! its just a fact

  • The Luger is the cutest pistol ever made.

  • porn for gun nerds

  • "...the round, doughnut shaped object to the rear of the gun..." Yup, this show was written for us Americans :)

  • It's true, German engineering surpasses American engineering by far in WWII. They had better tanks, guns... but they had one problem.

    Their "Fuhrer" was insane.

  • @InTheNameOfCHRISPY Actually.... Your wrong..... The Germans had more reliable weapons such as rifles and SMGs but not superior quality to the Russian made Mosin Nagant and PPS or PPSH. The only good point the German had compared to their allies are the SS and the pistols. Tanks are crap that cant be repaired within 1 hour and planes just got shot down more than the RAF and USAF

  • @MrLolx2u German guns where too good and that was the problem. Technically, the German weapons were far superior to the Russians. In this case, it was the simple and rapid production of the T-34, which turned the sheet.

Russians and Americans alike were crazy about he German war scrap. Me-262, Me- 323, Focke-Wulf Ta 183,-

Panter Tanks with night vision scopes, Tiger Tanks , radio guided bombs, STG-44, Schmeisser...Big rock candy mountain for patent thieves;)

  • @MrLolx2u German technology during that time period was superior to all, without a doubt. the weapons they developed and used were also high quality and exceptionally built. just because they got shot to pieces doesn't mean the stuff they built was junk. the tanks they produced were extraordinarily powerful, but least plentiful. their aircraft were phenomonal, Allied pilots just happened to also have great planes and pilots. nothing about Germany during WWII was poor in quality or performance.

  • @MrLolx2u the mos nag is a beasty gun!

  • @InTheNameOfCHRISPY On a side note the German engineering was more expensive and time consuming to make, which didnt help when supplying a war

  • Having shot extensively witht he luger, I have to say its a tremendous weapon. It feels so natural when you fire it, its almost like a part of your hand.

Will say that my grandfather(ss officer) preferred the browning to the luger, as it was not a optimal field weapon.A great weapon, and very accurate, but sensitive to field conditions.

  • If you can't appreciate the Luger, you have no appreciation for firearms

  • i love this show.

  • the revolver is the most recognizable handgun

  • love these videos, dont particularity like the luger but like the history behind these guns

  • 5:20 "A lot of semi-automatics will not do that."

    The Colt .45 did that,

    The Browning Hi-Power did that.

The Smith & Wesson did that,

    The Beretta did that,

    The Glock did that...

    Need I continue?

  • @SecretService80

Take into account the fact that Parabellum is one of the first generation automatic pistols, this feature was not and is not found in all pistols, even today.

-You tossed examples of the most succesful pistols (and makers instead of models) which do have thsi feature, but what you need to understand is the era in which this `Luger´ was made in.

  • @ArmaFennica I'm aware that the Luger P08 was one of the first semi-automatics, but EVERY handgun made in this era has a slide lock that engages after you fire the last round.

    As for specific models...

    Colt M1911 & M1911A1-.45ACP

    Browning Hi-Power (HP)-9mm

    Smith & Wesson Model 39-9mm

    Beretta 92F & 92FS-9mm

    Glock 17,18,19...etc.-9mm

  • As a german patriot I like the Luger, but all in all the 1911 A1 System is better.

  • "doughnut shaped thing to the rear"

    hmmm... xD

  • Hitler took suicide with Walther PPK, not Luger as many thinks!

  • Love the luger but since im american born and raised ill go with the 1911 45cal.

  • when you play call of duty u will se that the rear sight lifts.. unrealistic :P

  • luger can be in use even now!

  • its funny nowadays we have high speed cameras that film a 3000ths of second

  • Hey thats Garry James from Guns & Ammo tv :)

  • "Now you try that (shooting blind) with a .45 Colt, you don't get anywhere- you shoot yourself in the foot." Congratulations Father Time, for comparing the luger to a pistol it doesn't belong on the same battlefield with, you clown. They are developed tested at nearly the same time, through the same war, and the Browning pistol goes on to be the service firearm for various countries for roughly a century. DWM can keep the medal for ergonomics

  • this gun could of kook over the world but an idiot (hitler) used it stupidly

  • the most stunning looking gun in history. Thumbs up if you agree !

  • Colt 45 outlasted the luger and is still used today. I'd say thats the mark of a good design

  • best gun ever

  • is it expensive though?

  • @mdeslinger Compared to the P-38, it is quite expensive.

  • Very good my friend, nice find for those who cant get the VHS/DVD 5 stars for you

  • Holy shit, thank you so much for uploading this, i have been wanting to watch the Tales of the gun, regarding the Luger but could never find it online or for dvd.

  • The Nambu was a piece of shit pistol firing very weak ammo and was prone to jamming and breaking apart. It was small and flimsy. Japanese officers that were allowed to have sidearms would buy Lugers instead.

  • i know that but i like how the nambu looks and stuff

  • @bentenren Ruger took the nambu design and made it awesome. Search Ruger MkII

  • @SavageArms357 ruger sucks man, nambu is the best!

  • @bentenren Your joking right? The ruger .22 is one the best made and reliable .22 pistols ever built.

  • @SavageArms357 .22? how about the colt 45? can beat that! ruger is such an ugly pistol by the way

  • @bentenren 45? how about the 500 S&W? Cant beat that!

Comparing a .22 to a 45 is comparing apples to oranges. 22 isn't made for self defense, its made for hunting small game.

I find it strange that you dislike the looks of the Ruger, seeing as it looks so much like the Nambu.

And even if you don't happen to find the Ruger attractive, you cannot deny its absolute reliability and accuracy. To say that its a crappy gun, and that Ruger is a crappy company, is just false.

  • @bentenren Also, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. But bashing other guns simply because you don't like them is foolish. Its like people who are die hard 1911 fans say that the Glock is a piece of junk, when in fact it is an amazing weapon. Can we not love both? like Kirk and Picard?

  • @SavageArms357 understood mate!

  • @Excalibur01 the sad part was that the nambu wasnt even the worst japanese ww2 pistol by any means

  • @Excalibur01 or carry swords

  • @Excalibur01 please research before you type random shit lol.

  • @ralphyboy1 The fuck are you talking about?

  • @Excalibur01 you, its funny how if i respond to a comment like yours they respond within 24 hours like theyre on all day looking for people to argue and harass lol. Also have you seen the movie Excalibur?

  • @ralphyboy1 Excalibur has been my username for years. Also if I do get a reply on my own comment, I get an email right away telling me about it so I can respond right away. As if I stay up for 24 hours.

  • @Excalibur01 So i guess you havent seen the movie? lol

  • @Excalibur01

well thats because most jap guns arent famous! mabey with being known to kill who ever had the misfortune to pick one up!

deadliest thing on it is the bayonet!

and now they make everything! the best shit comes from japan!

    sad sad truth aint it?

but i tell you one thing you wont find one japanease / chinease / commie made piece o shit in my house!

i like american made and european theyre the only people who make the good stuff!

  • @Excalibur01 yea japanese weapon was crap,,,,,,,,,but yet they still manage to fight on,,,,,that tells allot about their heart

  • @FullBloodedHmoob Heart can't always save you

  • @Excalibur01 yea i know, heart cant win a fight.................but you got to respect the germans and the japanese.. they got jump by the world from all sides and most of their soldier only have bolt action rifles, and still they fought for so long..........if america was jump by the world and they only have bolt action rifles?!, america would fall in three days

  • @FullBloodedHmoob those countries lost because of far grater reasons. their rifle technology did not impact them much at all. Japan lost due to the devastating effects of the atom bomb. Germany lost because they made too many strategical mistakes.the Mauser 98 was the most sophisticated design of its time. the Springfield model 30 was based off the German rifle. its all comes down to the will to survive and to keep fighting.

  • @WellingtonBear36 NO!!!...if you have 5-7 guys punching and kicking you, could you defend yourself? OF COURSE NOT

  • @WellingtonBear36 we didn't use the springfield very much, or at least not nearly as much as the germans used the Mauser, and the Grand was a superior design by far.

  • @Excalibur01

    You said it man.

What was it... 7mm? That would just piss somebody off lol

  • @Excalibur01 The Nambu... was that the gun that would go off just by pressing the side of it?

  • @MAKER6450

There are two models of nambu pistols. The 14 and 94.

The one that would go of by pressing the exposed triggerbar on the side is the Nambu model 94.

The model14 was what Bill Ruger based the ruger mk type pistols around and well the upgrades he made sure made a diffrence.

  • @Excalibur01 well what they said was wrong the type 14 nambu is a good pistol with more recoil than the luger but that is because of its week recoil springs. and the japanese would not dare use another gun than there own guns

  • @Excalibur01 Funny... WAW made it look and sound good....

  • @Excalibur01 you know that had to get under the skin of the designers of the Nambu and the Japanese military.

  • Wow!!!

So this gun is one of the grand daddies of

    semi automatic pistols.

  • The grand daddy of semi-auto pistols would be the Mauser C96 that came out in 1896. The early colt semi autos were made in 1900, and FN also made some in the early 1900 before the Luger and the 1911. But the Luger is just very famous because of it's design

  • @Excalibur01 its not juast the look, its also the feel and accuracy of the weapon

  • First on it, and yet an other very interesting piece of history there. Thanks for uploading! Keep up the good work.
