C: Cutters (Blades)

D: Deflectors (Bulletproof backshields)

E: Eyes (High beams)

F: Frog mode (Amphibious driving)

G: Gizmo (Homing bird)

@pillowk - Actually, there IS a button "H" in the console of the Mach 5. It sends the homing robot home.

If only the makers of the live-action film had seen this video...One major problem on that film was that the Mach V was not "special" nor "fabulous." Every car in the film had many of the capabilities of the Mach V. Also some of the extra gadgets in the Movie Mach V were installed by the police people. The Fabulous Mach V was supposed to have been dreamed up by the best engineer in the world POPS RACER.

Speed Racer the movie sucked, leave to Hollywood to sell a picture for a generation who has never seen the freakin' show, and alienate all the people who watched it as kids many many years ago. If i had the money I would buy the rights and re-do it in the style of Bullit.

In fact, the whole conceit that voice-over artists in America had to sync to the mouth movements on-screen is ironic. The Japanese hardly ever cared about syncing mouth movements! Particularly in a TV anime when they were pressed for time to get the episode "in the can" for the week. Watch any raw or subbed anime from the 70s through the 90s. No lip sync! The artificial forced, fast-talking, run-on sentence dialogue of the American Speed Racer is entirely due to this self-imposed limitation!

Some of you have noticed that Speed's voice sounds different - more normal paced here then in the rest of the show. There's a reason for that. The actor (Peter Fernandez) in this scene did not have to worry about syncing his voice to a set of mouth movements on-screen. This is total off-screen exposition. So he can afford to talk more normally.

In case you never figured it out, the series that you were looking for was in fact, this series, (as that was the Mach 5 they were explaining) and it's title was Speed Racer.

Wasn't it another cartoon a lot like these but when raced at arenas with monsters and underwater facing machines with cool specialties. It was also about a car and i think it was called mach 5 or something, does anybody know then please tell me cause i cant find it :(

Nidolausen, the only other racing cartoon I remember was Pole Position. They did have cars with gadgets (including AI) but I don't remember much else.

Pole position it surely isn't. But if it is Mach 5 it has to be more modern than these rpisodes, cause these aren't right at all. There must be another serie, pehaps just swedish but yet again that doesn't sound right at all. I just have to continue my search I guess.

In 'The Secret Engine', Part 2, an "H" button is revealed. It's located behind the gear shift, under a hatch in the console between the seats, along with a mini-joystick that controls the homing robot. Pressing that button sends the robot to Speed's home. If they haven't taken it down yet, you can probably find it on Hulu.

It's because it's the pilot episodes, the voices always sound different for a bit of the first season, until the actors get adjusted to the characters they voice.

This clip is from a later episode, in the pilot episodes most of the characters sounded the same but in this episode Speed and Trixie sounded slightly different. I beleive that this episode may have been from season 3.

See "The Car Hater" episodes - Trotter hated cars because he lost a loved one to a car crash. Trotter also got thugs to sabotage cars all over a city, probably Tokyo, causing numerous car crashes.

I just saw it and your right. there were no special illumination head lights, the "grip tires" had spikes on them, there was no thingy that allowed him to go under water, he DID however have an extra set of tires (which is what you saw no offense) and was also able to stop people from slashing his. BUT THE THING THAT SET ME OFF THE MOST was he NEVER user the bird or Homeing Robot!!! He HAD it! They showed it to us and he had it at his disposal but not ONCE did we get to see what it could do -_-
