Finished the King book the other day. Not only was it one of his best books he has written recently, it's also one of the best books I have read in a long time, and I have read alot of books. It's one of those books, for me anyway, that as much as you want to read and finish it, you also don't want to finish it because than it would be over and you miss it. It's very rare that happens for me but this one yeah. I almost don't want to lend it out yet, maybe tommorow I don't know i don't know
@T80Delta Thanks, seriously last night I had a dream I was at the Sadie Hawkins Dance watching George and Sadie dance to this song. Then when I woke up I wished I could have had the dream longer. 11/22/63 affected me so much, it's the kind of book that stays with you forever.
I love the 40s to 80s the change in the music the goodness of the music people my age (17 - 20) don't see that most music they listen to would not be if these times hadn't gone by
Jake and Sadie! Exactly how I ended up here as well! Great song and even better book! One of my favorites to date by Stephen King. The man is incredible to say the least!!!
BEAUTIFUL! & HIS TOOMBSTONE IN ARLINGTON I IMAGINE..SHOWED US A HISTORICAL REALITY HE WAS A MAJOR! I didn't know that. I was born during that era BABY BOOMER, but this music HAS BEEN PART OF MY CULTURAL DIET OF AMERICAN RHYTHMS. I'M PROUD TO SAY I CAN DANCE THESE CRAAZY RHYTHMS STILL. Thank you to me this is AMERICAN HISTORY OF MUSICAL CULTURE..& should be taught in school! Ciao, adios, bye bye..PAX VIA MUSIC VIVA MARIA!
He used Tenor-trombone, I don't find if he loved it or tenor-bass trombone and bass-trombone were not popular even these professional performance at this time.
My favorite recording from that era. Grew up listening to Miller, Goodman, and Basie on old 78's my father had. He introduced me to this music and I turned him on to Chuck Berry. Music was always one of the few things we had in common over the years. Thanks for the memory.
I came here not because of some silly soap opera, I came here because I read about Glenn Miller in one of the books about IIWW and because I want to listen his music.
lmao im reading 11/23/63 and i actually read the scene while sadie and george/jake were dancing and it totally added great background music while i read the scene! glad i wasnt the only one... ha ha ha ha
Colosal, el maestro del sonido; composición musical magistral. Un estilo personalísimo en una combinación de instrumentos que arrancan acordes de gran belleza.
@EvidentAssumption I as well came here because Stephen King made me! lol I literally just finished reading the Sadie Hawkins dance part. I have to say I am not even half way through the book and I already feel it's not only one his best books he has written, it's also one of the best books I have read in a while. I hope they make a mini series out it because it would be amazing.
@TheDoctorwho747 I've never read any of his other novels but I'm definately going to change that after having read this one. If you've gotten any farther, I wonder if you're worried for George and Sadie too. I can't wait for Dallas 63 though cause I have a good feeling it's gonna get that Stephen King freaky vibe
@EvidentAssumption cont.. if you want some real scary fucking shit that is where I suggest you start. I have read all of his books and my top 3 favorite are IT, The Shining, and The Stand. It also doesn't matter whichever movie based on his stuff you have seen as 95 percent of the movies are nothing like the books. The only ones that I think were accurate were Shawshank, Misery, The Mist not the end, but the best is The Green Mile. Of course Green and Shawshank were from the same director
@TheDoctorwho747 Have you read any of the Bachman Books? If not you should check them out, particularly The Long Walk. They're written by Stephen King as well but he wrote them using an alius because he wanted to see whether his books were still selling because they were good or whether it was more just because he was famous. They ended up selling incredibly. So that was my interesting fact to share with you. I've hit page 500 and the anticipation is definately there
@EvidentAssumption cont.. a ghost twon in Arizona or some western state fighting the same supernatural force. It's like the same story sort of in another dimension, at least that is how I see it. It doesn't matter which book you read first. Way back when they first came out the in hardcover if you put the two books next to each other they made one big picture! As for this new one i'm on page 448, as much as I want to read it I don't wnt to finish it because I think it's that good!
@TheDoctorwho747 Alright just by that little description, Desperation and The Regulators are definately going to be the next two books I read by him.
Keep reading! It gets so good but in a bad way.. XD I really want to know how this book ends cause I seriously have no clue how all this is going to resolve itself...
@EvidentAssumption I Yeah I would recommend stating with The Regulators, but that's just my opinion. Like I said it absolutely does not matter which you start first. It's just that most people I know started with it first, and the vice versa people wished they had, I can't tell you why. And I agree with the new one I am on page 475 where he is doing his Rear Window thing, don't want to write spoilers but you know what I mean. That is also the thing about his books, completely unpredictable.
@EvidentAssumption cont Oh yeah I actually met SK up in Bangor, he is of course weird but was really nice about me coming up to him and he autographed a book for me. I don't know if you watch the show Sons of Anarchy but in season 3 he guest starred in one episode as a mob "Cleaner" named Bachman. He has a cameo in most of movies like Hitchcock except with lines. In one of the 80's Creepshow anthology movies he was in one episode all by himself. He is also writing an upcoming Walking Dead epi
@EvidentAssumption No problem now Regulators is the shorter book, but King short but long. Desperation is about the new book sized. When you finish reading them please please read IT. You will appreciate the scenes in Derry from 11/22/63 a WHOLE lot more. Oh yeah the other fiction town that have several books take place in them is called Castle Rock. Most notably The Dead Zone, Cujo, Needful Things and a few others. The CR books are awesome as well. Reg and Des take place somewhere else though.
@EvidentAssumption Oh of course I have read the Bachman books, what self respecting King fan hasn't? lol Actually years ago he put out two books at the same time "Desperation" under King, and "The Regulators" under Bachman. They act as companion pieces. I'll explain i read Regulators first which has a bunch of characters trapped on their street fighting a supernatural force. Desperation has the same characters only in name, their personalities are different. In that book they are trapped in
@EvidentAssumption Ah don't say anything else! I actually was afraid for them the moment Sadie was introduced based on other King books characters. He is not afraid to kill off main ones. Anyway yeah when the 63 moment comes I just know it's going to make Derry look like nothing. You might not know that Derry is a setting for several books, most notably IT, but you probably figured that out. Those two kids that Jake met there Bevie from the levie, and Ritchie from the ditchie are from It so
@TheDoctorwho747 I actually had no idea about some of hist other books being set in Derry. That just makes it all the more eerie. Especially the part about Bevie and Ritchie being in It... Gah!
Это Андропов, This Andropov, he is not dead, but was a CIA agent in the USSR, Compare Miller and Andropov, a copy, look for sources that are very interesting.
I listen to this song about three times a day just thinking of all the different times when I've thought about things to this is song. to say the least, this will forever be one of the greatest musical master pieces written in history.
I bet if glen miller had an iphone back in the 30's he woulda did facetime all the time!!!!!! And like, downloaded all kinds of apps :))) .....like camera+ , angry birds, facemelt, probably even a dictionary app, ohhhh and the ocarina!! He woulda loved that i bet, thumbs up if you agree!!!!
I had to play this in sixth grade and I thought it was the worst song ever, but this is so beautiful :') I guess no one knew how to swing it back then.
Heard this from scrubs, brilliant

what is 11/22/63? You should know Glen Miller from being an icon of an American generation
oldgregman 2 days ago
@oldgregman It's a Stephen King novel in which this song features in several scenes.
The song is also 70 years old so it's not surprising that people are a little unfamiliar with it.
