He put his heart and soul into the music. But, you make a good points and I totally think the same way and tell everyone the same stuff. Double bass, going fast, and doing fills a lot don't make you an amazing drummer. Precision, style, technique, skill, and experience make you a good drummer.
im a drummer and i can do double bass and crazy fills and all that bullshit but its not all i do, i play more "funky" stuff i guess you can say you know? and i know this kid who plays like joey but doesnt know how to play all the stuff i play, but i personally like the rev...he was a great drummer and like you said, put his soul into it

@mrbrownstone1995 Glad to hear! I'm basically the same way. I can do double bass and I can do a lot of cool stuff, but that's not all I do. I can do metal, rock, jazz, funk, progressive, basically anything. But, I like to play hard rock and metal the most. I used to be into more old school metal and rock, but then I discovered cool modern metal bands that sounded just as bad ass. Practice is the only way to get better, so keep on it and one day you might play like Tommy Lee.

Double bass, going fast, and doing fills a lot don't make you an amazing drummer. Precision, style, technique, skill, and experience make you a good drummer.

im a drummer and i can do double bass and crazy fills and all that bullshit but its not all i do, i play more "funky" stuff i guess you can say you know? and i know this kid who plays like joey but doesnt know how to play all the stuff i play, but i personally like the rev...he was a great drummer and like you said, put his soul into it
my only problem is that im more into old school rock, metal, punk, etc. so all this new stuff isnt my fav

@mrbrownstone1995 Glad to hear! I'm basically the same way. I can do double bass and I can do a lot of cool stuff, but that's not all I do. I can do metal, rock, jazz, funk, progressive, basically anything. But, I like to play hard rock and metal the most. I used to be into more old school metal and rock, but then I discovered cool modern metal bands that sounded just as bad ass. Practice is the only way to get better, so keep on it and one day you might play like Tommy Lee.

@dumbdrummer95 yeah i get you dude, i was strictly into bands like van halen and led zeppelin and all that shit but then i started to listen to new stuff and like you said, some of it is actually pretty badass. i like avenged, killswitch, disturbed and all that, i realized that it is better to be open minded than to be close minded like most pop fans are these days. and playing jazz is pretty badass. its real underrated but super complicated

every drummer now is just a drummer, no one really puts effort into making a good performance, its just playing the drums for them, they walk on on play the drums, i wish all drumers would put taste into there performance like tommy did, im only 15 and ive seen him twice, and he does fuckin stick twirls, hits his stick on the rim and it goes flying upp, hes got a titty cam, and he fuckin flys in the air on the carnival of sins tour
