if `Waterloo` was just for starters then ABBA's best year was probably 1978 when `Dancing Queen` floored the accelerator to send them firing into the history books with one of music's greatest ever compositions.
My favorite Abba period was at the end, when they incorporated new wave influences in their music (like in this song). Visitors, Elaine, The Day Before You Came--great stuff.
You are so right. The first time I heard this on the Thank you for the music compilation I was floored. I have since learned that it was to be on the never finished 9th album. Too bad, because this was a top 10 hit. Christian
Given Abba's decline in popularity in 1982, i think this would have charted lower end of the top 40 if released as a single outright. i love it though!
They were simply playing as they were sometimes simply living!..Justanaquita is right(see below). Is there any chance they could realize how much joy they (would still)bring in every listener`s heart? They did great each time and in every little piece they played,Amen!
I was always an ABBAphile, but I never heard this song until I got the box anthology. Had this been given wide release it would have been a smash hit. I will leave all the talk about the breakup to others.
Get a grip! It's only a b-side to a single and certaainly NOT the direction ABBA were going musically. the last song they ever recorded is considered a masterpiece (The Day Bfore You Came). I think they stopped becuase Bjorn and Benny were bored. NOT becuase they had run out of musical ideas. Chess or Kristina anyone?
Nice or erotic .The Luxury Woman Of the Millenium....One of a kind outfits and personality!!! Cuz i am hot and willing to fulfill your wishes. My sister just corrected me: There were no videos when Abba was around. They fifddled around with Super 8 films (etc) and were true pioneers of our modern-day music video industry. I am informed Abba were the very first band in the word to use moving images, so .... dont knock it!!!
To be more accurate they shot on 16mm (or I should say director Lasse Halstrom did) and they were pioneers in making the promotional clips, but others had before them (the Beatles for example)...it's just that they were the first group to do it consistently, mainly with Lasse as director and more in the format of the first MTV music videos. ABBA did it because they hated touring and it was the best way to get TV exposure without traveling all over the world.
back in the 1970´s when my sister loved Abba I loved the Sweet and Sparks and the Beach Boys, etc. The Ramones became the Nr 1 band of all time for me. Ive never heard this song in all my life, and now its 30 years after the fact. AND Im from Sweden. Its truly great, its 100% quirky, and its like 100% better tyhan anything Daft Punk could ever make. Awesome!!!!!
I only knew of this song when i purchased the 4 CD package named Thank You For The Music( you'll know what i'm on about). On that particular CD i only really liked `Dream World` `You Owe Me One` and the undeleted composition. It caught me out so much i listened to it twice in a row.
I have that collection, but it doesn't have you owe me one on it, or dream world. my friends gave me a copy, so maybe they gave me the wrong one. but I love it anyway.
SOO catchy! Abba can do many different kind of songs, but still carries the "abba-touch". This one is a treasure, too bad there isn't a video or live performance
see all this tacky nonsense that people use??its such a loose term simply because you dont get it,this song has so much going on.Thanks for posting it.
I don't think it's tacky at all. It's simplistic but I love the way they embellished the song. There are still some great harmonies & I love Ag's voice in the background ("now look what you've done"). There's also a 3rd vocal element added to the chorus the 2nd/3rd time around in the background on top of Frida & Ags voices; "Look what you've done...Missing all the fun..." Love it.
(for abbaMANQUEZ) I thought at first that you are serious about your comment regarding this song... until I saw the "redeeming" phrase at the bottom. Sure Justin64 did not notice it because he again took the chance to pin down Agnetha, probably, using this comment of yours. I like ABBA's exploring other genre of their arts. It simply proves their ingenuity. With this song I am reminiscing of my teenage years. Justin64 seems like "Kulang sa Pansin", ano say mo?
I am reading the book: "Bright Lights- Dark Shadows" & it goes into great detail about both Frida and Agnetha having a lot of problems with 'stage fright', Frida seemed to get past it sooner than Agnetha, but in all the DVD'S I have of ABBA, it sure is hard to tell!!! This video clip says a lot about how hard they worked to get past their problems on stage!!!
this song showcase the raw talent of these girls. and it's very awesome, too bad that the group won't do this kinda of stuff. At lease we have this stuff to remember by. ABBAHOLIC.
You Owe Me One is a very quirky and bouncy B-side to Abba's final single. It's only available on the Thank You For The Music box set. YOMO is not on The Visitors but Under Attack is.

Yep...have to agree this may be THE worst abba song...lol.
Why couldn't we have been given Dreamworld & Just Like That as bonus tracks instead of this one?

Man, brilliant pop! And never even released! Reminds me of that "existential new wave" of the early '80s...like Lio in France!
