Hate is something we learn early. Hate is something we all know. Hate has been alive since the first living thig was born. Acceptance that you can't have everything you want is what we have yet to learn. Yet most decide it isnt important to learn!
@idbigod I'm not an expert on the conflict but the Arabs lived in Palestine for centuries. This land was also promised to the Jews in the Bible, and is therefore their homeland. Both sides think of Palestine/Israel and their home and Jerusalem as a holy city. When WWII resulted in the Jewish Genocide, many Jews moved to Palestine and were welcomed; they needed a home. However, after WWII, Jews wanted to return to the Holy Land promised to them, and therefore pushed the arabs out. War was born.
rrrr I couldn't really even understand what she said :( just sound like yelling to me. Someone has the lyrics? I did get Palestine children part but the in between that was confusing ....
i believ that we could either exist in a world of peace, but no love and no hate. . or in a world with love, but also with hate. when u know love you know hate. for they are tied together. but in this world that hate is so feirce, we've forgotten the love. this poem made me cry, for she is right, while people in america are thinking we're so great, we help the word everyday. we dont. we ain't doing shit for the world. all we seem to do is hate.
It's extremely freaking hard to make me cry, but this came close. I got that little knot in my throat that sends chills down your spine and sparks the synapses that let your tear ducts know to drop those little drops of hope for another people.
mashallah.....this poem really brings it back home...when people are worried about minor things like exams or relationships or clothes and jewellry we forget to count our blessings and remember those who ask for nothing but freedom...may Allah bless them with patience and hope inshallah....beautiful poem sister

@idbigod You should really look it up yourself. Its an important part of recent history that will help you understand US foreign policy.

@idbigod Maybe it's because here in America we're too busy living in our sheltered societies to realize that theres more beyond our borders.
obvlivious to the world outside & what is real.
& What is real may be too real to truly recognize.
There are 169 countries in the world.
And you only see what you see on the news, which is truly nothing compaired to everything actually happening.
There is so much.
So so much.

PenguinsHartMakeup 2 years ago
"she has no flow". what does that mean? by the by, this is poetry...not rap. you may want to google 50 cent for "flow"
1000lesbianlover 2 years ago 3
That's kind of an ignorant statement. A lot of music regardless of genre can lack many important elements, not just rap.
I think the person who said that means the way she executes her poetry doesn't move along smoothly. I don't agree with it, but a flow has to do with how the way a form of art is executed.
Sepia1789 2 years ago 4
Blank verse is often not rhythmic, yet certain elements of her poem consist of limericks which made the poem seem unbalanced, the message was well received and executed, from her own personal experience which offset the unbalanced cadence of the poem. All and all the poem was simply phenomenal.
dellabrook 2 years ago
actually i was responding to a comment that "freewheelin panda" made but subsequently removed. I'm quite aware than some of her structure choices weakened the poem however, the comment I was responding to was encouraging her to have "more flow" which (having been to the national poetry even more then 7 times) makes me what poets to have less "flow" and more poetry. i like rhythmic poetry, but not when the need to be musical overpowers the need to be authentic.
1000lesbianlover 2 years ago
The authentic element of her poem was accentuated through her demeanor rather than her words so I feel the poem was highly authentic bottom line I truly felt like nothing should be changed. The poem was beautiful in its own right. (By the way I am a student of Dr. Maya Angelou and I have been a judge for several national spoken word contest) perhaps Im not clear about why you felt it was necessary to state your credentials but this conversation could do without them.
