I wish they tested this with the Boeing 777 engines where just one of the engine has a baseline 115, 000lbs of thrust (at redline, it produces about 122, 000 lbs of thrust). I wonder what would have happened to those cars....

But the new 747-8i is longer than the a380 all the a380 has is bigger wings the 747-8i is the longest plane flying thr 747 hrld te size record for 30+ years of flight its not small.

The one they have parked at the track is a double engine 747 with 2 mid-size engines in one nacel per side and fuel pods for extra fuel. Rather rare I'd say...first one I've seen like that, B-52 style :D.

The thrust would be greater having 2 engines in one nacel pushing you rather then one big engine. I don't think the one they have at the track is airworthy or has had its avionics stripped out. Top Gear has always had a tight budget, and as the show got better over the years the scale of the films has progressed along with they're budget and fan base. So to address this issue, it seems they have adequate space to rent out to decomissioned or retired airplanes.

We had a guy drive a tow tractor (Similar to the little tractors you see towing baggage carts around.) behind an aircraft (KC-135 tanker) during an engine test once and had similar results. The tractor ended up 50 yards away driven into a chain-link fence. Guy luckily survived but tractor looked like a giant used it as a soccer ball. It is unbelieveable how much power a jet engine puts out.
