i thought that guy was a bit harsh with slater telling him he'd let everyone down, the lad clearly tried his best and only failed on one thing. he did his very best he just wasn't quite up to it, how is that letting people down? he probably went away after that and felt crushed poor kid
makes the raf look like a tea party "today troops, where going from a stroll round camp in our respirators to see the effects" oooo delightful cpl haha
I found running with the S10 respirator to be a pain even when it started to mist up. I didn't do too bad with it on the shooting ranges surprisingly.
Oh my God, this so reminds me of the time I was in the army! It may not be as hard as with the commandos, but we did or own bit of running with the gas mask on with full protecting clothing on the middle of a sunny summer day trying to keep up with an officer. It was so hot that my sweat vaporised inside the gas mask so badly that it practically fogged the lenses, so I couldn't even see, and practically got lost on a open field. Damn I wouldn't wanna do that again anytime soon...
your joking a plumber poor kid I myself failed basic(Australian Army) then went back and kick the shit out of Basic my motivation drove me into the ground but i passed
@kingswaylad incorrect - Terry's an engineer, and I have mates who failed for Paras and RM but became Rifles, Duke of Lancs and Guards.
One mate, who's been as fit as possible since primary school and was lucky enough to be smart as hell too, failed for the Paras but joined the RAF regt. From there he somehow passed SFSG and is now serving with 22 reg.
Slatter still could have joined the army but maybe the marines was "all or nothing" to him. At least a decent plumber can earn quite well.
Feel sorry of Slatter.

That's harsh on him.

Depresses me when I see someone like that Slatter, who worked hard.. wanted it more than anything.. and was discharged for an injury.
Just shows how easy it is to not pass out.
