  • Actually you could also HELP the animal go back to the wild. i don't hate pet owners, I don't like the insecure ones. Who says the fennec fox has to become a domestic animal. Cats were domesticated thousands of years ago, they can't live in the wild anymore. Yet THESE are wild animals that are becoming domesticated because of insecure people like you. The way you think as well is just insecure. Did the fox TELL YOU that it wanted to be living inside instead of the wild??

  • @Rodoriginal101 Also if someone rescued me and gave me food, it doesn't mean I want to always be fed by that person and that I want to be held captive. I would be thankful for the person to feed me so that I could get back on my feet. What you do is keep it as prisoner, but ofcoures the fox can talk to you and it said it was alright. You stil don't get it do you........ These animals are exotic! Exotic animals are not PETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these animals shouldn't be living at home. It's not a house pet. I hate you people that think this is normal. They belong in the wild not in house dude!

  • @Rodoriginal101 And yet this is how all domestic pets start out, meaning you hate all pet owners. By keeping an animal in a home you're even providing it with a safe future, it would be like hating someone for rescuing you off the streets and giving you food, allowing you to survive for years to come.

    It's not very rational.

  • Is this an american fox race??? I have never seen a fox like that before :)

  • I think he hates having his fur wet.

  • Manliness fading...

  • Holy crap look at those ears! So freakin cute!

  • IT'S SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's soo beautiful!

  • HE'S SO CUTE! AAA! lol.

  • The ears are as big as my grandmas German shepard dogs ears!!!

  • I just about died by how cute that fennec is!!!

  • where did you find yours? breeder, location etc?

  • One year later and I got 200 thumbs up on a simple comment. Thumbs up to you all, folks! :3

  • Maybe just one more circle! .... No, not done yet! *Walks in circles like 100 times* xD

  • aww that lazst noise was soo cute

  • A very cute fox. He is awsome. :)

  • it wusnt comfy >.<

  • Oh em gee!!! It's like a wittle Chihuahua! :D ,3

  • How can anyone skin one of these beautiful creatures alive? I don't get humans! Maybe humans should get skinned alive and do a leather trade. Believe me, the earth would be purified

  • @inlight4evr Not purified but a lot cooler. Imagine having a skin jacket that used to be an emo!

  • @inlight4evr i dont know if your from the USA but a long time ago indians used to have their scalps skinned (or did the skinng) to be made into charms, clothing, or to utter the 'death cry'....

  • @inlight4evr you mean real indians from india, correct?(not native americans) the vulpes zerda is native to the deserts of northern africa

  • @inlight4evr I'd say there are enough people in the world being maimed and tortured as it is, instead of increasing the amount of people who suffer, we should decrease the suffering caused by humans.

  • Is he or she ur pet?

  • awww how adorable shouldve gave it a blankie

  • ^_^ AWH!!!!!!!

  • gremlin!

  • Can they be house trained? Do they tend to chew things?

  • @kawana87 Think of them as little puppies.

  • i want a fox like that! :O

  • it looks like a gremmlin

  • She is adorable!!! I so want one :)

  • I'm planning on buying one of these when i move out from my dad when i turn 18, can't WAIT to get on.

P.S. i know im a furry, doesn't mean ill buy one of these just to rape it you sick bastards, i know that's what you're thinking.

  • @FURRYDulaman

    Good luck getting the $20,000

  • @TheRenaissanceMann 20,000 is the maximum, some are for sale for like 1000 and you can even adopt them for free o.O

  • sheesh they're twitchy little things aren't they? reminds me of a friend i have with ADHD..... hahaha. he never completely stops moving. but man is he cute! ...the fox i mean. not my friend. =P

  • wonder if my dog is part fennec. lol. he paces and digs and "nests" until the blankets are just so, and then he'll plop down and pass out. he's a chihuahua, so he sorta looks like a fennec bc of his ginormo ears. haha

  • like i said....a wild animal is a wild animal and does NOT become a domesticated animal just because it is born at home. I have a cat who has lived with us for almost 20 years. She is from Egypt, and has obviously been mixed with a wilder cat. Even though we have had her for 20 years she is still wilder than normal housecats. Racoons, fennec foxes, etc, are not meant to live in homes, but in the nature! If you don't understand then I am wasting my time with you.

  • that is the whole point. These foxes are not supposed to be raised at home! They are supposed to be raised in the wild...they are WILD animals to start off with, so what you are doing is against nature...and I HATE people like you!

  • Wild animals are happier in the wild trust me. Only the stupid people will think that they are doing these animals a favor when really they are not. I mean who are you..to decide what is best for these animals? People that own wild animals should be punished!

  • @Rodoriginal101 an animal that was raised in home is not wild.

  • @xissburg Also try raising a tiger who was raised at home...do you really think that the tiger would become as friendly and as domesticated as a cat?? No a wild animal is a wild animal by nature...and a domesticated animal is not a wild animal because it took thousands of years to make them domesticated.

  • @Rodoriginal101 it depends on the animal, dude. Those big cats have a natural killer instinct. Animals like foxes and raccoons don't...and they are awesome, specially raccoons. I love raccoons :D

  • @xissburg So for a fennec fox to be domesticated and for it to NOT be a wild animal it needs to be with people for a VERY VERY long time...talking about thousands of years for you to be able to call it NOT WILD. But idiots like you will never understand that.

  • My dear friend. I did not want to confuse you with too much details. Coyotes no pariah dogs, yes. Both belong to the canine group.

See sweet heart I aint as dumb as you think I am>

  • how could i get one?

  • @EnjoyLife331 just check kijiji or ebay, if not you could check exotic dealers...maybe even yellow pages for adresses that could sell foxes. thats how my friend got his.

  • Do they Shedd?

  • @ktrany55 and yes, every animal sheds :S

  • howwww cute!:)

  • No you are wrong.

The biggest threats to the fennec fox come from : eagles as well as all large predatory birds, fox, coyote like dogs, all stinging insects and so on..............

Nature is one hell of a bitch to these small animals.

  • @valgag0 Coyotes?

    ........... Coyotes?!

Do you even know where the hell these guys live? Christ. Wikipedia is your friend.

  • Did he just get a bath?

  • it's a dog not a pheonix

  • @hellchaser11 i realize your confusion, foxes are on the same family, even if the fur seems the same, they earsv prove its a fennec

  • my min pin dog does the same thing, before he sleeps

  • fennec foxes are so cute lol I want to have one as a pet

  • It's obvious! This is Firefox refreshing! :O

  • @mellowcowism thats funny man when i looked at your comment it was so funny

  • @mellowcowism Funny, Firefox made a mobile named Fennec.

  • @mellowcowism wtf

  • @lavawolf33 xD; the "Firefox" web browser mascot is a fennec fox. >-<;

  • @o0Tamaki0o that would be sooooo kawaii

  • @mellowcowism hahaha :D damn those big ears are cute :3

  • @mellowcowism i have firefox..lol

  • @mellowcowism You're genius xD

  • @mellowcowism awsome comment LOL

  • @mellowcowism LOL too funny!

  • fox knows how to get comfy.

  • they're almost like a dog by the way they behave

  • This little guy seems to be saying "Don't you have a blow dryer?"

  • He probably bought it.

  • how do you get a pet fox do u need a license or something

  • look at those ears!! he's so kuuuuute!!!

poor dear just cant get cozy lol. <3

  • wild animals when pacing in circles usually have a captivitiy disorder called "zoochosis"

  • So all dogs have zoochosis? O.o;; They do it to get comfortable.

Also, zoochosis happens when animals can't get alone time in captivity or are constantly bored.

  • @ novalisba

    @ xXNibiNoNekoXx

Actually foxes, wolves and dogs all turn around in circles because when they were once wild, and they slept outside, they would spin around to figure out which way the wind is blowing so they could put their back to the wind and be warm.

  • These animals HATE water and can actually abort their unborn babies from the stress of getting wet!

  • That is one disoriented looking fox. But then again my cat always seems out of it for a few hours after I've given her a bath.

As for foxes as pets there's nothing wrong with keeping them as a pet so long as the owner does so responsibly. Foxes aren't dogs, so you can't treat a fox like one. As for the foxes being happier in the wild...no, they wouldn't be. They're hunted for their fur and by other predators. A domesticated fox has a lot less to worry about.

  • Cute. it reminds me of my dog. He'll spend like, five minutes doing the same thing.

  • ah, it sucks having your fur all damp and not being able to get comfortable.

  • do you know this personally

  • Oh my gawd! Lie down already!!! ~laughs~ Foxy is like...what is this by my head? Oh...a foot...holding it down and using it as a face scratcher...oh yeah! Too cute!

  • This video could not be any cuter.

  • *steals* X3

  • I'm sorry, but I have to interject. With the current state of humanity, with all the roads being built, homes, town, the increase in population, wouldn't you rather have them become domesticated and be able to survive than be killed on some motorway? It's our own damn faults we have killed their habitats. So you ask why we are domesticating these precious creatures? To save them from being extinct. Also, I wouldn't go so far to call Foxes exotic either. A panda is exotic. Not a fox.

  • The biggest threat to fennec foxes in the wild is the fur trade. If you own a domesticated fennec, they can live a happy life with you instead of being skinned alive.

I prefer a live, happy, tame fennec to a dead, wild fennec.

  • @Jetman123 I would prefer a free life of danger over one as a caged pet

  • @Killenwolf Robeyta's fennecs obviously disagree with you on this point. They're quite happy where they are.

  • If it lives in the wild then you'd have to kill it before you skin it. Before you say anything else on the subject let me point out that I do know many trappers and they do not skin a single animal alive when they do sell furs. It is not only illegal but they just prefer to have the animal feel no pain from it.

  • @indoorin Apologies, perhaps that was incorrect of me. "Skinned alive" perhaps isn't the proper term.

The point being that a domesticated fennec never faces being killed for it's fur.

As for "anything else on the topic"... don't mean for this to sound aggressive and I don't mean to bash you, but I posted that comment 7 months ago, the only reason people are replying to it is because people thumbed it up lots. All I'm doing is replying to people that reply to it.

  • @Jetman123 accept my apologies, I didn't care to look at the date on this post. If I had noticed that I would've never sent you that reply.

  • @indoorin No problem, honest mistake. Thanks for apologizing, that's truly above and beyond. :)

  • @Jetman123 good point. that only gives us more reasons to own them as pets. who wouldn't want one?

  • @Jetman123 Or, ya know, we can work to get rid of the fur trade so they can just be in the wild anyway.

  • @FrazzleAndTheWolf It's not going away anytime soon. Besides, the fur trade is just one problem that leads to wild life expectancy (and quality) being much lower than that of captivity.

  • @Jetman123 poaching is bad but not that big of a deal for fennec foxes. Their population class is THE FARTHEST AWAY from extinct. sooooo....... ya.

  • @LeftLegFilms Their numbers are unknown in the wild. "Least concern" is only applied due to a lack of applicable data.

  • I think the animals themselves prefer the home cooked meals and lack of predation!

  • yeah that makes sens;)

  • @Briere486 how do you know that? there are alot of people that take care of animals like this.

  • @darkimage11 I will kill you with fire! sadistic little freak!!

  • you asshole.. u should fucking be killed with fire

  • Comment removed

  • ha... i'm allowed to comment... especially when someone like you posts a comment like that... wtf is wrong with you... have a bad childhood with a single mom that you felt attracted to as well? ur a fucking weirdo... wanting to kill a sweet animal like that with fire... jerk-off

  • so cute

  • u r so mean

  • He is quite cute. I read your profile, and I am glad to see you are a responsible owner :) Japan or the USA, glad to see it somewhere!

  • Thats what my puppy does! He will dig a "hole" into the pillow and will circle until he finds the spot.

  • its a FOX

  • it's no different from having any other animal as a pet

  • do you speak from experience, or do you know? there are many non-domesticated animals that do NOT make good pets.

some are too aggressive towards humans and other household animals, or just generally unsociable.

  • yes true some animals are not suitable for pets, domesticated or not, take the staffordshire bull terrior for example, some people think they're not ideal for pets due to their aggressive behaviour, yet they are domesticated and can make perfect pets. this fox doesn't seem aggressive or unhappy. each animal has it's own personality, any animal can be domesticated just like any animal can be wild, it's down to the animal it self, not the breed.

  • it's not 'bogus' you can domesticate any animal over time, do you seriously think that cats, dogs, horses and all other pets were just domesticated over night? it takes time. it can be unsuitable yes, but like i say that's down to the animal as an individual, not the breed. this fox seems perfectly happy, yet there could be a fox else where that isn't, that could be for a number of reasons, one being that particular fox isn't suitable, but the fox in the video is. He's not in pain or suffering.

  • i understand all your points, but the discussion was whether or not they can be domesticated, not their living conditions. But you are right, few people are prepared to take on such animals, but i think if the animal is happy, for example the fox, then no harm has been done.

  • Amen to that. It takes a great deal experience and understanding to keep an exotic or wild animal in a domestic setting. Even selectively bred, well socialized animals will still display intense instincts and behaviors that most people living in a house are not prepared to deal with. Containment is another issue with many exotic type animals.

  • Why keep adding even more animals that are even more difficult to keep. Happy or not, they were not meant to be captive pets. There are truly too far and few people out there that are capable of providing the proper containment, care and enrichment for most of these wild exotics.

  • Wolves and Wolfdogs are the perfect example. I foster and rescue, and own 2 myself. I LOVE my boys but they should have never been. They were lucky but so many more are not, because of selfish peoples desires.

  • IF THEY LOVED IT and let it be wild, it would die within the week. You think that letting it go would make the animal happier, but it's not suited to living in the wild anymore. It can't find it's own food, or homes, or know predators. Plus, they're okay with humans. They would be killed or just be picked up again by another group of people, who might not treat it as well.

  • tooooo sweeet

  • are fennec foxes good when getting baths or do they tend to try and escape?

  • the ears are like an intercooler on a turbo charged car.lol

  • holy shit he/her has big ears!!!!!

  • lol WHAT?!?!

  • did you have to get a pet license to own one. Ive researched them for months now btw. so im ready to own one.. just sayin :)

  • The owner of this video lives in japan, so the rules are different over there.

  • Are those hard to keep as petz?

  • What's up with the ears ?

  • Put ur hands over ur ears and make ur hands into a fox ear shape......then you`ll know :D

  • lol, but seriusly those they need some that big ears xD i thin they would still have a good ''Hearing'' even if the ears was 1/2 of that size. but it make them more cute

  • Lol.......probably

    Crocadile: AARG....Aww cute Deer...

Fox: IM A FOX BITCH!!!!! AAAAAAAAHR!!

  • They are not only for hearing. In the desert where they normaly live the big ears also reduces the body heat.

  • The big ears are to make the predators think they are too cute to harm

  • no its not at all 0.0

Its so that the fennec can hear insects and small lizards etc (their food) in the dessert at night

  • Lol 0.0

ooh, I see--But it's so cute, I bet the insects and lizards willingly sacrifice their lives

  • The ears also help keep them from getting too hot in the desert.

  • that is the best explanation i have ever heard hehehe

  • lol thank you ^_^

  • =/.....now that fox is too damn cute to stay still lol.

  • i have little body and head BUT BIG EARS!!!!!!! XD

  • the Vulpes (fox) genus is much less related to the canine, let along Canine domesticus, then the feline or the common house cat.

  • He looks like Kyuubi from Naruto..

I want one althought I dislikes dogs.

  • Foxes are maybe a good thought then, they're more like a cat than a conventional domestic dog is.

  • Yes, they are cute with their ears but I don't want to see scars when I wake up :/

  • i'm fond of them)))

  • Lol the ears.

  • just sleep already

  • If I had one, I would name mine Butterblume.

  • How did you get a fennec fox?? Are they legal in the USA?

  • Yes, it's legal, but you need a license, and they're hard to come by. Also, they're quite expensive.

  • Look it up on wikipedia. They're legal in some states.

  • P.S. I'm naming mine Potato. X3

  • I want to get a fennc fox when I go to college in a few years. Do you think it would be hard to take care of?

  • get a permit and buy one

  • poor guy trying to dig as if it is earth. i am SO depressed to learn that people are TAKING these as pets. uggh. they are so private and wild. leave them be.

  • Shut the fuck up.

  • it's called an opinion, dumbass. i am guessing that you are american, you have no emotional intelligence, and you have a limited vocabulary. by the way, the foxes are super cute! adorable!

  • that was i
