To everyone who wants to criticize this song, and say stuff like "They sound angry..." or "They shoulda had a choir", I say start your own freakin band and do the song your way, or stop listening to this one when you realize you don't like it, and find a song you do like. lol. I love this version cause I'm a metal fan, and I love Christmas songs about Jesus.
Why does it have to sound all angry and aggressive? Not all metal has to sound like that, especially when it's a cover of a happy song. And how could they not have choir vocals on "in excelsis deo"? I mean, it's supposed to sound epic and anthemic, isn't it?
I think I would prefer if this was covered by a band like Freedom Call or something. I'm sorry, I just like happy music, and there's no reason why metal can't sound uplifting.
@Athorar Listen to the opening vocals. Actually, almost all of the vocals. Oh, and most of the guitar and drum stuff.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with changing the style when you're covering a song, but this honestly made me depressed, and I seriously doubt that the original song was intended to be depressing. Believe it or not, there are quite a few metal bands who play positive-sounding metal, so I find it really disappointing that this song does not have the that type of mood.
