Sorry, but please listen to more records with good guitar tone and then practice. You are promoting the idea that it's just fine to be terrible. Suggestions - Ah Via Musicom - Eric Johnson, Fresh Cream. and if you want to hear the best recorded tone of a Trainwreck Express - Liquid Earth by Novella (hard to find).
Hey GMD Why you always start with all knobs at noon why don't you start (Gain) with all the way from the clean 8:00 (if it is clean????????????????????????? who knows) and up
i have one of these and its amazing!... but i think its picking up radios stations. it could be the cables but i pretty sure its the pedal. have it into a newer peavey classic 50. any suggestions?
after watching this again, I realize that my first impression was correct. It sounds like the speaker has holes in it when you turn the pedal on. Try a Tonebone Classic if you want good transparent overdriven tones.
i highly doubt that you can't trust youtube for audio quality being true to the equipment fuchs makes some of the best equipment i've ever heard so it's not very likely that a $20 POS pedal could sound even remotely near as good as this
@alreadywoundpie Way back when there were no distortion pedals, some guys did actually poke holes in the speaker to get distorted sounds (dumb, I know)
@1952Telecaster I'm not disputing that--in fact, as you probably know, messing with broken speakers was the 'original' way of getting distortion in the very early days of rock and roll. But it just seems like a strange thing to do these days given the permanence of such a modification.
@alreadywoundpie Oh I do not advise anyone to ruin speakers (unless they're Peaveys) to achieve this sound, but this pedal reminds me of that ripped speaker sound.
@1952Telecaster are you sure that isn't because the crappy cam mic is clipping like crazy with the pedal on? I've heard higher quality demos of this, and none sounded this fizzy
try the sheetsofsound demos of this pedal and it's tube powered brother, the Valve Job, they sound much, much better, sorry GMD, I blame your camera, not your chops or your gear!
GMD's style seems to work better with the plexi and tubescreamer circuits. The Ethos and Wampler Ecstasy pedals do a much better job of producing dumble tones.
It's a shame you don't play some Robben Ford licks because he's one of the most known among the Dumble sound users I guess. Anyway, thanks for the demo because it gives more examples of the tones that pedal features and I just bought one on eBay :o)
Thanks for the demo. It sure helps to have an idea of what the pedals sound like before you buy! I'm curious about playing complex chords and note clarity with using high gain settings on this pedal (jazz metal?) Some of the stuff I play is progressive rock/metal so its nice when you can get a pedal to respond to your picking. Great licks by the way-I'd love to listen to you play more!
@gearmanndude Dude, it is so obvious you are Jack Black. I've been losing friends arguing it with people who are too clueless to figure it out for themselves. You are wrecking my life, come clean about it already.
dumble in a box = the ethos pedal ... nice pedal - wonder how it would stand up next to Alf's Zendrive?
Andy used to make his ODS clone inside of an existing fender chassis - not sre if he is still doing it - but at the time you could get it done for under 2k...have seen them on ebay!
So did you get to do Gweneth Paltrow when you did Shallow Hal? ;)

I've got a $20 POS pedal I don't use that sounds just like this one. Poke a screwdriver to your speaker and you get this sound.

@1952Telecaster Yeah, but if ya poke a screwdriver to your speaker, you won't get any OTHER sound.

I could tell he wouldnt know any from the moment he hit the open chords...not a fusion guy. More of a rock/blues guy.

It seems like you can get a pretty wide variety of sounds from this box, from a subtle overdrive to kind of a fuzz sound. Cool pedal!
787Bisurdaddy 2 years ago
Do you play in a band, that might have a myspace or sumthin?
sciencekiller7689 2 years ago
Sounds like a fuzz pedal to me and very transistor like. Maybe its just the recording.
bobhufocm 3 years ago
nah i think this pedal is more of a fuzz pedal imo
