@MsSomethingsilly That is something I can respect. Our knowledge is slim and based on assumptions that we can't really prove. I can't with certainty say that god does not exist, but my skepticism doesn't allow me to have faith. Although I am interested in the idea of faith in the Kirkegaardian sense!

It's just that I find that faith is called faith for a reason, we don't need to have proof in order to have faith. Like when something bad happens to someone and we say to them that things will be ok, we don't have proof for that either.

However, I completely disagree with you that one should respect every kind of view. There is a difference between rational assumptions and completely irrational assumptions. The hypothesis of god is not irrational (it can be logically deduced). Inequality based on sex (just an ex) is irrational, so no respect.

I do think a guy who wrote a book called "why I'm not a Christian" should be on that list. It means that he got famous for being an atheist, and thus, does not belong on that list. I don't care that any of these people are atheist, and I never will. I don't care what faith you are, so long as you respect my faith and the faith of others.

Leaving someone alone is also not a viable solution if they have ideas that are irrational and can cause harm to others in the long run. Living in a society demands that we debate and care for each other. Irrational and intolerant views should always be criticized because they can lead to harm.
I believe that "god" gave each of us a little something called "free will" and if I refuse to believe in "god" that's my given right I mean what kind of "god" gives you free will and punishes you for believing differently than what it wants you to believe? Common mistake, Gnosticism deals with knowledge while theism deals with belief, I am both an atheist and agnostic because I do not believe but I am unsure whether a god does or does not exists. You could say I have faith if I made the assertion that God exists but I do not, I simply wish to be allowed my disbelief without being labeled as "evil" or "immoral" by people who have never met me.

Agnostic is not a third option like 99% of people think it is. Agnostic means that you don't know if there is a god. Most people are agnostic. Agnostic theists or agnostic atheists. An atheist is defined as someone who does not believe God exists. It doesn't state that we know for certain. And theists don't know for certain God is real, so according to you, everyone in the world is an agnostic.

I suppose it may be possible something that may be close to a lephracaun could exist on another planet in another star system here in the Milky Way or in another galaxy. It's just that I find that faith is called faith for a reason, we don't need to have proof in order to have faith. Like when something bad happens to someone and we say to them that things will be ok, we don't have proof for that either.

However, I completely disagree with you that one should respect every kind of view. There is a difference between rational assumptions and completely irrational assumptions. The hypothesis of god is not irrational (it can be logically deduced). Inequality based on sex (just an ex) is irrational, so no respect.

Common mistake, Gnosticism deals with knowledge while theism deals with belief, I am both an atheist and agnostic because I do not believe but I am unsure whether a god does or does not exists. You could say I have faith if I made the assertion that God exists but I do not, I simply wish to be allowed my disbelief without being labeled as "evil" or "immoral" by people who have never met me.

@MrItchyElbow I believe evil is defined as flooding the world to kill off everything YOU created, blaming them and not yourself for their wrongdoings (bc they were his product, and his omnipotence would have forseen there evil ways before making them). God won't take responsibility, when he messes up, he just wipes the slate clean and starts over? how were the babies and children that died in the flood immoral?
Also, I don't believe fear and love can coexist.

Guess the statement that Nietzsche is dead is fact, so if God is the expression of fact and logic the note that FN is dead would be in line with that. Now to me God is the logos but if you believe there is no God you will probably argue that there is no logic to the universe as well. Now a God that creates miracles is irrational if the miracle would offend the logic. If it;s a rare events u might as well believe in the lottery.

Agnostic is not a third option like 99% of people think it is. Agnostic means that you don't know if there is a god. Most people are agnostic. Agnostic theists or agnostic atheists. If you simply haven't made up your mind if you believe in a god or not, well then you're clearly an atheist up till the point you decide you believe in a god.

ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. GOD, HEAVEN, AND SEX: Internet article examines the Biblical possibility of sex in heaven. Human sexuality isn't just for reproduction. There are reasons the Bible requires marriage for sex on earth, but those reasons won't exist in heaven. Scripture teaches, in heaven, we'll be like the angels only in one sense - no marriage, but we won't be like angels in every other way (i.e. Bible says we'll enjoy food and drink). Psalm 16:11 says there will be great spiritual joy and pleasures in heaven.

@Mogley52 Maybe the universe wasn't born by some sort of god/goddess. Maybe there are many other universes out there that tell a story that maybe our universe was born naturally. Not accidentally or with a purpose. But like life and stars,it came naturally.

@Darkeons Let's see. On one hand you DON'T believe in God. On the other you DON'T KNOW if GOD EXISTS. Again I submit that when you closely examine most athiests, they are NOT atheists at all. They are agnostics. Not 50/50 agnostics like myself but 99/1 or 80/20 etc. But even if it is 99/1, you are NOT an atheist. You still have that crack open in the door and that means you are really an agnostic.

Agnostic = Thinking something is unknown or unknowable (do you agree or disagree)
Atheist = Someone who does not believe in a god (do you agree or disagree)
Theist = someone who does believe in a god (do you are agree or disagree)
Please look up the definitions that I just put up. I don't believe in a God. So therefore I'm an atheist. I don't think it's possible to know if there's a god or not, so that makes me agnostic

Dawkins says he is an atheist yet when confronted by Ben Stein, he said on a scale of 1 to 7, he is a 6 that God doesn't exist. That is a slight crack in the door is it not? And would that not make Dawkins actually an agnostic? What is your scale? Are you a 7 on a 1 to 7 scale that God doesn't exist?

@boblackey1 Well in that case nobody truly doesn't believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, or lephracauns, because we can't technically know for sure they aren't real. An atheist is defined as someone who does not believe God exists. It doesn't state that we know for certain. And theists don't know for certain God is real, so according to you, everyone in the world is an agnostic.
As for your question, I would rank myself about 49/50 God doesn't exist, but you can't know for sure either way.

I suppose it may be possible something that may be close to a lephracaun could exist on another planet in another star system here in the Milky Way or in another galaxy. But the question of super intelligent being that may have no beginning that created the universe or caused the big bang and caculated the laws of physics and nature that would include the ability of stars and life to form is a serious question.

@anticorncob6 We have several options. God has existed forever and created the universe out of nothing (big bang) and worked up the laws of nature and physics. The universe has existed forever, no beginning (Steady State theory). The universe created itself out of nothing (big bang without God). The universe has no beginning but was different before the big bang and God dosen't exist. Remember: Big Bang says matter, time, energy and SPACE (a place to be located) all began at the big bang!

BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from variations produced having survival value. It doesn't produce variations. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. Either it was designed or the random forces of wind and waves made the castle. You didn't find fingerprints. Did the wind wipe the fingerprints away?
