With Del Toro as director we can at least be sure of some awesome visuals. There are a lot of creatures in the Hobbit after all: giant spiders, goblins, wargs, giant eagles, trolls, and of course Smaug, and Del Toro is the master of monsters. :D On the other hand it'll be interesting how they handle stuff like the riddle scene, or the Elvenking's palace.
I guess it's good to give him a chance :) I don't think his a bad director... Besize, he did a great movie with Hellboy. Anyways Peter Jackson will be memorable, I mean, Peter Jackson has did a great job with the Lord of the Rings, and as they said in the news, no one can remove the title of Best Trilogy from the past 25 years from the Lord of the Rings. Anyways, Peter Jackson is going to be the Co-Producer so :P I'm happy with it. PD: Legolas COULD appear in The Hobbit as a kid of 5 years.
i love how its the best trilogy of 25 years and not since the dawn of time cause that is only reserved for one trilogy... and its called STAR WARS boo ya
Pan's Labyrinth is one of the Greatest Films of all time, easily up with the LOTR adaptions, if not above them.

dude he's gonna make The Hobbit disgusting just like pan's labyrinth. I was not impressed with that movie and am saddened by the fact that Peter isn't exclusively directing it himself.
Listen, he isn't going to make the Hobbit disgusting only because you saw a movie he did that had gore, or in case you were not aware Peter Jackson made a movie just as "disgusting" as Pan's Labyrinth or maybe even worse, as some may say since it did have A LOT of blood, and you should check it out if you doubt me, it's called Braindead (or Dead Alive is how it's called in the US).
Excellent!! the Mexican Del Toro is directing the Hobbit is amazing that show what Mexicans can do and what Mexicans are proud Guillermo excelente trabajo y felicidades!!!!
So you're telling me that Peter Jackson was a shity director? I disagree with you if you think that. Lord of the Rings are the best movies I ever seen in my life. You can't say that Peter Jackson is a shity director! -_-
If the characters are not played by the same people. The movie is a FAIL. They better have Sir Ian and the other guy who played bilbo. Anyone know when the movie comes out.
I have also heard that there's going to be two films, but as I understood it one will be the Hobbit and the other will be accounting for the events that happens between the hobbit and LOTR based primarily on appendixes.
Peter would be such a great choice to direct the hobbit. It's really evident, the lord of the rings trilogy is amazingggg! It's such a shame. But, Im atleast happy that he's the executive producer :D but Del toro is directing :[
Del Toro is a brillinat director with an exraordinary vision and Peter Jackson is amazing. - I love them both, and in my eyes, the hobbit couldn't be in better hands in terms of making epic, fantasy movies with a heart. I think its genius. I can't wait :)
if you ask me, del toro(who is kind of dark and fantastical) should've done LOTR, and PJ(who really likes humor as is apparent in the LOTR films) should've done The Hobbit.
Pan's Lab was pretty much a children's story, just one with a little more gravity than the ineffective A.D.D shit that kids movies these days are, the Hobbit is a children's story with gravity to it as well so Del Toro is perfect.
Pan's Lab was advertised as the fairy tale for adults, as it was that dark. The Hobbit, however, is a simple and whimsical children's story with a dragon thrown in. My parents read it to me when I was a kid, and there was no creepiness in it from what I can remember.
i dont see anyone else better for the job apart from peter jackson, pans labyrinth was an amazing movie, this guy can definatly do fantasy, and i think with peter jackson backing him as producer, it can be Guillermo del Toro's best movie, and that would be big. Peter Jackson has created the worlds for lord of the rings, now i think del toro can take the genre one step further.
There are no perfect directors: Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro both have had their own sucsess and disapointments on film. King Kong (Peter Jackson) was horrible and boring. Cronos and Blade (Guillermo del Toro)static and boring. Sucess: LODR (Peter Jackson). Pan's Labyrinth (Guillermo del Toro)
i disagree, King Kong was a pretty respectable update on the original godly film. and blade was crapping amazing, what in the fuck are you talking about?
O nie tylko nie to!!! Dlaczego wszystko jest nie tak?! Reżyserem powinien byc Jackson, a nie Guillermo Del Toro. Czuje, że nie wyjdzie z tego nic dobrego...
Del Toro seems like a nice guy, but I hope he doesn't direct. I hate Blade II & Hellboy. And not to mention Pan's Labyrinth is shockingly boring. This is a big deal to me as I will probably be in these Hobbit films.
But since jackson has the role of telling anyone to fuck off if the shot looks gay I think the hobbit will be great.
The lotr's kicked ass in both detailed story, acting, and effects. Nothing could beat sitting in the theater when those hobbits ran from the shire with the high pitched shrieks of the riders after them.
You are SO wrong, he loves all kind of fantasy, he has the biggest fantasy collection of books ever know to man, and he loves "The Hobbit" book. He's an expert on the subject, he knows even the shit that inspired Tolkien, he's a walking encyclopaedia, and the best of all, he makes amazing films!
I'm sure he will treat "The Hobbit" with great respect.
