Well you fly the T-6 first... then you either go T-38, T-1 or the UH-1. Right now the T-38 slots are backed up so they aren't handing out any of those slots
Not what my buddy told me, he said fighters are going down, heavies/tankers going up and not enough t-1 slots, so they are handing t-38's to guys who would go t-1 because there aren't enough t-1's in the inventory. Now these guys aren't going fighter/bomber they are still going heavy/tanker. So after they get done with the 38 they have to go do formation flying and stuff. So, a lot of guys are getting pissed because they are going 38's but on the heavy route.
@F22RaptorFF I can't recall that last class that received zero 38 slots, you can check at baseops. But the dude is right, more 38's are dropping, but more dudes are getting heavies out of 38's. Columbus has been having a steady drop of about 5-6 38's per class for the past few months.
how long is that. Im graduating in 2015 will they be doing it then (id assume so because of the new f35's.). Also how hard would it be to get a waiver for a hand deformity (my fingers are shorter than normal, only on my left hand.)
@kingneptune117 You aint flyin dude... they will have other people that will likely be more qualified (no offense to you) that will not have deformed hands and will be able to control everything on the throttle (all 17 buttons worth) without having to exert more mind power to do it.
I have had an Air Force flight surgeon tell me that he sees no reason why I wouldn't get a waiver to fly. Pretty sure I will take his word over yours.
@kingneptune117 Look at the facts. Why would they give you a waiver if they can get someone who will do the same things without a medical waiver? Right now, with the number of patriotic young individuals who are applying for pilot slots, budgets getting cut, people not retiring, and the shortage of a training fleet... they are not giving any waivers for any flight contracts for any of the services. Also, while the flight surgeon might be correct... he is not on the selection board.
@kingneptune117 Hell you even have the gentlemen who posted this video essentially telling you that. Beyond that, they will not be giving rookie pilots seats on F-35s for a while... those slots will be given to senior pilots or people from the academy. Also, I am not saying that you cannot get a waiver... what I am saying is that with a medical waiver your chances dramatically decrease beyond what they already are.
@garzac7815 I do however wish you the best of luck, that is carrer path that I considered and had available to me but after looking at all the facts decided it was not for me.
That is not how it works. First you get selected for a pilot slot, then you go in for the medical. They will not know about my medical problem until I take my FC1 medical exam, which will be after I receive a pilot slot.
Quit flying into SWO. its annoying.
