I had an ipod touch not long ago but traded it in for a classic because touch screen on an MP3 player sucks ass, having to go through the whole unlock screen business to skip songs???? i like (and missed) being able to use my MP3 player to skip and fast forward without having to look at it. I would use the Archos for a music device wired to a stereo over an ipod touch, ipod touch for me is useless, cool to look at but crap if you want to use it for things that don't require looking at it

Games on iPod touch are better, I believe. I have an iPhone 2G (no excitement to get a 3G, and no money to get a 3Gs) and the games from itunes are great on it. Awesome graphics (not really a suprise. Apple's product are always great at graphic)

I have an Archos 5 250gb and it plays swf flash games fine. Fine, not great.

I don't know about the games from Archos which are $10/4games, but the Archos 5 runs flash games kinda slow. I mean, graphic, it's slow.

Well the ipod touch is pretty cool I own one of those also, but The screen on the Archos i a 4.3 compared to a 3.5 ipod screen.And you can get on the internet, play music, photos, vids all that, but you can also record your fav movies from the tv, it has more stuff than the Ipod touch, so the Archos is way better to me.

Macs are pretty infamous when it comes to viruses or crashing for that matter. There where at least 2 at my school at one time that did so. The warranty was short and the repair cost was ridiculously high.

The reason the Archos responds a bit slower (when you select a song / video) is because it's a Hard-drive based Player.

The iTouch responds faster because it has a solid state Hard-drive, no mechanical moving parts. : )

hmm iv had my archos 605 for a year now i mean its GOOD but not as good as the itouch. like she said its slow sometimes even to just turn it on and i havnt tried its internet capabilities cuz i dont have a credit card to buy it unlike the itouch its free however the archos has turned some heads of some of my friends when i first showed them video on it the archos is more for mature people (not saying anything about the girl)that go on buisness trips alot and its better to but in a suitcase

wow that older 605 model was pretty much on par with the touch and maybe even better. Now that the new Archos 5 and 7 are out...they are completely killing the iPod Touch...they cost less and can store up to 10x more files on average. And they have some killer add-ons

LMAO, they are not killing hte iPod touch, they don't even hold enough of the market to be listed as their own brand. People won't buy them because the design is horribly ugly, it's plastic, and the screen is easy to scratch, the browser is 30$, and Hard Drives have more memory because it's cheaper, due to the fact that it breaks way more easily.

The touch is metal and glass, with plastic on/off button and volume buttons. It's very compact, much more durable.

The iPod touch is better in quality and design, it's designed for everyday, portable, multi-touch, and it has great technology, and the App Store.

Archos is cheap in deisgn, it's all plastic, and the interface is amatuer, the screen, although touch, is not the same touch as the iPod. It is a less expensive pressure-sensitive, instead of electricity detecting, and it cannot detect multiple touches.

The "Add-Ons" are quite embarressing, except for the Opera browser.

archos is better. if you want something pretty for a lot more money and less gb than get the ipod touch but if you want something that can do more and is a lot more flexible get the archos i'd recamend the archos the ipod touch also has pretty bad sound quality and if you don't have an apple computer, itunes, and quick time ipod touch pretty much sucks for you imo theres also a new archos out now for a little over $500 called the archos 7 320gb internet media tablet check it out
