@kermithehomo When you say "all Irish" you don't include me or almost all my family and friends who regard Americans as welcome and are friendly to them.
@kermithehomo i'm irish and i don't hate american's, always have great craic whenever i go to the US. Love chatting to american tourists in dublin on a night out.
@kermithehomo All the Irish? every Irish person? because that's what you're saying when you say "The Irish" and what I'm saying is it's a minority of Irish people who feel that way (not that I've met ANY in my lifetime of living in Ireland) and the only people I dislike are those so incredibly narrow minded that they believe bad stereotypes
I wish people could be proud of their country without insulting other countries. I'm Irish and I'm very proud of that but I just feel embarrassed when I hear people saying "Ireland is the best country ever fuck all other countries!"
I know if I was American I'd be proud to be American, I like to focus on the good points of all nations, and I'm not going to pretend Ireland is perfect! Ireland has a lot of flaws, as do all countries, it doesn't stop me being proud of being Irish.
I was the tenor sax girl on the end for the Coppell band. XD That was the longest parade and I swear that music will be stuck in my head forever! I would also like to thank you for posting this video. :)
@thecrusades2,The main point to make is that I along with probably everyone doesn't give a crap,we live in the now,we're Irish because we're from Ireland, have an Irish culture, language and that's where it ends.
@thecrusades2,well I have to admit I don't know a lot about this whole thing so I'll have to stop and there's no hope of me reading Oppenheimer. All in all I can't say that I believe you fully, you were wrong in your date about Mount Sandel and then there's the sole point that your wrong about us oweing our ethnic identity to Scotland when you yourself said that these settlers came via Iberia-France-England-Scotland-Ireland.If this is the case we both ultimately owe our identity to Iberia.
@thecrusades2,There's no doubt we've got links we Scotland and sure jaysus the Scots aren;t the worst ould feckers in the world but stop this "the Irish owe Scotland their ethnitcy" bullcrap.I'm a Irishman with a Norman name, you can;t say that I as an Irishman owe my ethnitcy to Scotland can ye?
@thecrusades2,well if that's the case we owe our ethnitcy to Iberia.I can't say I'm an expert on this whole thing but didn't the Picts inhabit the land we now call Scotland and wasn't it a tribe from Ireland called the "Scotti" that took over the land from the Picts? You say that we owe our ethnitcy to Scotland but sure we could just as easily argue that it was reciprocated, and more so since the people that came to Ireland from "Scotland" weren't Scottish at all! But japers I'm not an expert.
@thecrusades2,go away with your approximately, when you look it up it says Mount Sandel was occupied around 7000BC,that's roughly 9000 years ago, when the fact is that the first settlers to Ireland came from continental Europe! The Irish, along with the other "Celts" along the Atlantic coast, are descended from settlers who came from the Iberian peninsula after the last Ice Age.
Dear Born Again Pagan Celts of the Nomadic Free World, lets celebrate (((March 17th and the 18th))) as (((Celtic Pagan Liberation Day))). On March 17th and on 18th wear all Green if you are Proud to be a Born Again Pagan Celt. Sincerely in the remembrance of The Hill of Tara's Royal Druid Government.
The Druid's Government has been govern under the Brehon Laws under the Pagan High Kingsfor over 2140 years before the birth of Christ.
Dear Born Again Pagan Celts for the Hill of Tara, lets celebrate a REVERSE PARADOX on MAEWYN SUCCAT Day. On March 17th lets RENAME Saint Patrick Day as CELTIC PAGAN LIBERATION DAY! With creative advertising we should be able to PROMOTE a REVERSE PARADOX by saying, "Wear all GREEN if you are Proud to be a BORN AGAIN PAGAN CELT!"
Bagpipes are not Scottish, they are mainly associated with Scotland but there are many variants of Bagpipes all over the world and Ireland has its own Bagpipes too called uilleann pipes. But all of that is irrelevant because there are loads of instruments there that are not Irish. Its not a parade about Irish instruments.
@DingChavez959 Im Scottish, i think the bagpipes might have originated in India, not sure though, could well be wrong. The Scottish and Irish have been allies and have shared alot of history together. Most Scottish people have Irish heritage. Im very proud of my Irish/Celtic roots.
would have been even better if michael flatley had been there staggering down the street in a dirty trenchcoat clutching a bottle of warm beer screaming obsceneties at everyone!
@AngloSaxon1921 What are you pretending to say with american? Mexicans are true americans, the so called americans are just immigrants like irish, italians or asians... you dumb ass... wanker if you prefer... or needy cunt
@alatriste078 If you really want to get technical Mexicans, i.e. Native Americans are actually Asians....who crossed the Bering Strait during the last ice age from Siberia into the Americas, so....Everybody comes from somewhere else, take a good look at Native Americans then look at South East Asians, even the Japanese, and you see an obvious connection. And most Mexicans have some mixture of European blood anyway, particularly Spanish, my point is history cannot be undone, no point wallowing.
hey thanks so much for posting this!!! i play trumpet at coppell and marched this parade and it is really, REALLY cool to see this... brings back absolutely amazing memories!
WOOHOO coppell!!! *sigh* ill be going there next year, and in marching band. hope i dont screw it up with my a-lot-less-than-perfect gracefulllness... :-/
Many thanks for posting this; and many thanks to Coppell for coming to NY. We watched you from the Cathedral steps and you absolutely filled the street with music. Loudest applause I have heard for a band in my more than sixty years of St Patrick's Day Parades. Please come again.
Going to this this year!!!
