qu'on le veut ou pas ,salif tu n'est pas egal a eux tu peux passer inaperçue car tu es comme un chameau dans un troupeaux de chèvre .honnêtement tu n'a plus rien a prouvé.
When I listen to the music of Salif Keita, it seems me, that the white man was'nt there yet in the deepest Africa. Is's so original african. I like it
HE IS COMING TO KENYA THIS WEEK AND I SHALL GO AND SEE HIM. I HOPE HE DOES NOT SING THIS SONG THOUGH AS KUMA IN SWAHILI MEANS "VAGINA". MAYBE HE WILL BE WARNED.
It's something about his voice. I have never heard a voice like this before. I doubt I ever will. It's magical. Draws you in. Commands your attention. It's just sensational. I don't understand a word he says, but he makes me feel what he's saying. Man, don't even know how to explain. I fell in love at a young age, as I sat in my father's car back in Africa. I forgot about him for a while, until I re-discovered him on here. He will always be my favourite. Won't ever forget again.
Yes, directly from the heart. He blows my mind man. I hope to meet him one day. It will probably never happen, but I hope it does. If not that, then at least see him live.
I have been looking all over the internet for tickets. I know he's on tour, but I can not get any tickets. So effing gutted man. I hope I get to see him one day soon. How was he?! Do tell
This guy is a genius.I had an opportunity to interview him in October 2003 in Stockolm. His modesty and vision for the whole Africa is just amazing.Very articulate in his take on global issues.May you live Salif...
I agree. For me this song epitomises African pride: not in the negative [meaning defining ourselves in the contra] But, rather, an authentic sense of self-pride. The eradication of an inferiority complex- better still; there never having been one in the first place. What Steve Biko and others extolled is here expressed in music.
je trouve plus les mots pour exprimer se que les chansons de salif keita me font .......en tout cas que dieu te protége amine........ merci merci merci
Very narrative: the sense I get from this is absolutely pride- or rather, what Africanism should be. It is telling of a story that has yet to become. I remeber watching Mr. Keita live when I was just a young boy- about 7, 9 or so: in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has been part of my being since then- though only now, as a 24 year old man, I now realise in what ways he has become thus!! Thank you Salif for rekindling my pride as an African.
With the late great Joe Zawinul on keyboards & producing. Sometimes it sound like Joe was jamming on keyboards by himself to the track, no response from other instruments, drums or programming etc. But it's so great they worked together - it was a great concept Long live them both in life & music
@paapakobe Yeah, the track is gorgeous as it is, but with Zawinul tastefully throwing in those hip and beautiful reharmonizations, it makes it even that much better.
You re so right. reconu par tout d Abidjan a Jo burgh. de Paris a New york. Nothing to say the man is so talented. !Mes parents achetaient tous ces disk a Abidjan.
Kuma: the art of talking. This is actually the most smartest and the most eloquent songs from Salif.
"Dont you know that words are very important? Dont you see how big is the swath words have cut in the horizon? Ask a lawyer he/she would explain to you the importance of words; do not go around talking trash aimlessly words are learned and they would make 1 cent into 3. .... they also can get u in trouble! Idabara Ma Doy La: Keep ur mouth shut unless u have something good to say.
