We have a readily available source of inexpensive energy in our homes: Unused or expired medications. Companies, like Covanta and Capital Returns, use discarded medications as fuel for high temperature, kiln type, incinerators and generate enough low cost electricity to power up to 200 homes per incinerator per year. This is not the only benefit. Incinerating medications also keeps them out of the aquifer. 50 states report traces of medications in their water supply.
