US arm forces look at the SCAR-Light..n say..what does it really do better compare wit da current M4..not a whole lot. So they say the same wit ACR. So M4 will be around for awhile. Since our enemies decided to engage our troops in far distance over the mountains..7.62nato is more lethal over 250yd compared with 5.56. If ACR is chamberd wit 7.62nato they might consider it.

By the way as far as price go, US military dont really care about price when they know its the best weapon. During WWII m1 garand is very expensive to made but our troops won the war wit it. Its very lavish rifle at that time. And during vietnam m16 come along wit space age alloy. At that time fabrication on those materials is high tech, so its expensive and still being use today.

I heard different. Special forces in Afghanistan gave the scar-h a good feedback. Arm forces community been asking for-- battle rifle and scar-h is it. Its not perfect and there still improvements need to be done but the 7.62 is an advantage. As far as recoil its managable. They dont shoot like the movie and the video game-always auto fire. They do a well aim single shot n short burst even wit m4. 7.62 can do more damage over 300yd n it can penetrate better wit der heavy thick clothing.

@breakurselff scar-h is less likely because it is a trash weapon. very slow rate of fire compared to most modern guns and has substantial recoil when fired on semi-auto. it is also a very expensive gun almost twice as much as most rifles today. thier is many more desirable weapons that are more reliable and efficient. btw the 7.62 russian is a very unpredictable round the NATO rounds are much better.

@georgelidd Never damaged any of mine. It's typically because of the training, getting that next mag in, and putting rounds down range faster is more important than policing up mags. Also found all of mine when I went back for them. My last deployment I started using a couple of dump pouches though. Sometimes I'd forget about them being there though LOL! Just a training issue, that I no longer have to worry about.

I like the ACR as a weapon, but it is a solid fact that it has been recalled because of major flaws and problems, one problem being extraction. Another is being able to handle the high pressure of the 556 round.

@dragon166666 Again the ACR uses the SAME extraction/ejector as the current M4/M16. It also uses the same bolt face and barrels as the M4/M16 so it handles the pressures of the 5.56 round the same.

The recall on the ACR was a safety recall on the firing pin. Nothing to do with anything you have mentioned.

@tuck234 It part of the Discovery Channel program, Future Weapons. The interview was with Chris Costa (not Frank) and he did not say that, it was the narrator. (see Future Weapons: Magpul Masada by Sark00n on YT)

At about 2:25 during the animation sequence the narrator says that all that was left was the AR barrel, and fire control and front site post. This list is abbreviated for TV. In the animation you can see clearly see the M16 extractor remaining (the ejector was too small to render).
