Wow, The guy walking past the camera at 3:11 is barman Noel Pyper probably on his way to do a bar shift at the Molly Malone, the 48-year-old barman was kicked to death in a lane during the early hours of 12 August 1997 by Raymond Casey who himself died in prison in 2009.

That was brilliant. All the images we see of Limerick in the media are so negative, it lifts the heart to see how it is portrayed in this video. I was born and bred in this city (I went to school on O'Connel Av), I work on Williams St and it can be easy to forget how special it is. Thanks for reminding me.

When I visited in 1969 I fund my aunt, who grew up in India, laughing at how the Irish reminded her of the people in India. She especially appreciated all the burial shrouds hung to dry in the back yards, and this was in Limerick's best neighborhood at the time. Beautiful county, as is also Clare-Limerick.

In the 19th century the authorities in the British Isles would sweep all the "riff raff" off the streets, homeless men, women, and children and ship them off to Botany Bay and Western Oz. I was in West Oz two years ago and toured the Freemantle prison where people of all ages including children as young as six were imprisoned. Those people came from all of the big cities in the UK like London, Glasgow and Dublin to name a few. It would be like us today shipping all the homeless to the moon...

My uncle Tom at age 16 left Limerick and went to Oz 1916 (during the troubles) and lived in Adelaide, never got to go home again, sad. Hope you get to visit Limerick, meet your kin and relish in its history. Thanks for viewing.

Limerick has had its problems with crime in the past, but there is alot of renewal going on in the city and most people who visit the city would barely notice anything to do with the crime everybody is talking about...its a beutiful city by the river shannon and well worth the visit
