  • Wow, The guy walking past the camera at 3:11 is barman Noel Pyper probably on his way to do a bar shift at the Molly Malone, the 48-year-old barman was kicked to death in a lane during the early hours of 12 August 1997 by Raymond Casey who himself died in prison in 2009.

  • Limerick and Cork people are the friendliest bunch in the land.

  • Remember the Limerick's Soviet

  • Well done! Loved it...

  • Limerick is one of the oldest cities in Ireland, and is popularly regarded as "Ireland's Third City." But we locals know that in many ways, and in all of the most important ones, Limerick is really Ireland's first city.

  • perfect and beautiful song for a beautiful city.lovely memories from johnny duhan.never forgot his roots..limerick people should be proud of theircity....dont let the scum try and tarnish its good name.....the majority of people in ireland would agree with that..limerick youre a lady.........

  • I'm from Cork myself, but Limerick would definitely be my second favourite city.Such a shame it's reputation is dragged through the mud by scumbags and cretins.

  • UP KERRY D KINGDOM!

  • That was brilliant. All the images we see of Limerick in the media are so negative, it lifts the heart to see how it is portrayed in this video. I was born and bred in this city (I went to school on O'Connel Av), I work on Williams St and it can be easy to forget how special it is. Thanks for reminding me.

    The song was beautiful too.

  • So many places are gone -Todds, Crusies, Lyric, Stella, glad you enjoyed the vid.

  • The video footage was taken in 1991. Limerick is definitely a modern city today. Thank you for viewing.

  • Thanks for responding to my comment. Some very nice photos of old Limerick!

  • When I visited in 1969 I fund my aunt, who grew up in India, laughing at how the Irish reminded her of the people in India. She especially appreciated all the burial shrouds hung to dry in the back yards, and this was in Limerick's best neighborhood at the time. Beautiful county, as is also Clare-Limerick.

  • Ireland... hmmmm one of the best countries in the world!!! Long Live Ireland!! God Bless Ireland!!!

  • limerick just has a bad name for the few bad familys that live there ,i weekend there regular and love the poople and its lovely pubs!!long live limerick!!

  • Bad Name!! Never heard any of that, too far away in California. Must be just local news. Limerick people are the best. Thanks for watching.

  • jesus thats beautiful brings back the old memories

  • Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you.

  • In the 19th century the authorities in the British Isles would sweep all the "riff raff" off the streets, homeless men, women, and children and ship them off to Botany Bay and Western Oz. I was in West Oz two years ago and toured the Freemantle prison where people of all ages including children as young as six were imprisoned. Those people came from all of the big cities in the UK like London, Glasgow and Dublin to name a few. It would be like us today shipping all the homeless to the moon...

  • Shipping the homeless to the moon....your a true person of vision, i pray one day your dream is realised

  • Thanks for this video. Im fascinated with the place! My ancestors were shipped out here to the great land of Oz in 1836, as convicts. They were from Limerick, as Im getting older, im getting more curious.

  • My uncle Tom at age 16 left Limerick and went to Oz 1916 (during the troubles) and lived in Adelaide, never got to go home again, sad. Hope you get to visit Limerick, meet your kin and relish in its history. Thanks for viewing.

  • wow! Thanks for that reply..... most aussies have Irish descent .... It must have been awful for the poor buggers. Thats prob why we all drink lol

  • Limerick History

    1850s Convictions

A list of those transported to Australia during this period can be found here

    June 1850

The following was recorded in the Limerick Chronicle on Saturday 29 June 1850

civil business of the Court at one o'clock, directed the prisoners in custody to be arraigned, when the following pleaded guilty, and were sentenced:-

John Twomey, stealing silver spoons, the property of Thomas Browning, Esq., of Crass, seven years transportation.

  • looks so much like a street I used to live in Dublin. They could do the streets up with getting more green in. Trees, bushes, plants, flowers..oh and get the fences down and clean out the front garden.

  • Limerick has had its problems with crime in the past, but there is alot of renewal going on in the city and most people who visit the city would barely notice anything to do with the crime everybody is talking about...its a beutiful city by the river shannon and well worth the visit

  • Hi,I was travelling Ireland in 2007 and Limerick was one of the most beautifull towns where I was. We were at Dolans Pub , really fine traditional irish music and Adare is a jewel.
