I would say it was a very professional job. It's difficult to make major judgements from this video, but knocking down the bulk of the fire before entry by FFs is good proceedure in my book.
@ryanlovestosnowboard monroes ladder wasn't available, they called long hills ladder in trumbull and arrived after this footage was shown to assist with ventilation and overhaul
that the building is metal truss, with the heavy fire conditions it needed to be cooled asap, there was constant communication from interior ME and to the FF's on the 2 1/2 outside, next time ask a question instead of firing off your unfactual bs, and NO the fire was not venting from the roof, the roof was metal decking with a membrain and rock coating.
@XDieselPowerX Never said that fire was coming through the roof. See that alot on videos and just wanted to throw that in. That is correct about knowing what type of building and your lucky that you knew that building. Didn't want to be the monday morning quarterback but with the information you made a great call. Stay safe and good video.
typical monday morning quarterback, let me straighten this out for you, that guy was on the intial interior attack crew i was the chief with him, we put tho hose down to mask up and it was charged on us, knowing the building I instructed him to just take the line and start knocking the fire while we dry stretched a 1 3/4 to the fire floor, knowing the door was locked and would need to be forced in zero vis conditions. Now the key is knowing your building construction, what you dont know is
That guys opened that line three times. 3:353:58 and 4:48. Crazy how people don't understand a simple thing. Lesson 1 is never open an outside stream into a building that your FF's are making an interior attack. Lesson 2 When there is a hole in the roof with fire showing please don't put the master stream into it. You will just be pushing all the fire and heat to the rest of the build
Why is that guy working the 2 1/2 into the window! He just saw his crew trying to make a push from the inside! HELLO.. Fire is suppose to blow out the window...If you push all that heat and smoke back inside what good is it. You guys had people ready to go and make an aggressive attack and that one jerk is going to get everyone hurt.
