Your figures are off chunky. Indeed they did conquer much of China, old persian empire, parts of russia, but it was successive generations of the genghis khans family and they were not held long. But that too was 1500 years later. They at least had knowledge of the parts of the world Alexander and others did not.. Spartans just beat on some persians. They stopped an army the size of which Europe didn't see until D-DAY. An army larger then their own population, and you benefitted by it.
