  • they should paly it more ofte. or, if they are too old now I will do it someday

  • Bruce' cannot match St Johns solo's can he?

  • probably one of the most metal sounding Kiss songs. it screems judas priest!

  • Marks playing was the best

  • At the start of the video is that Paul Stanley or Cher?

  • my favorite album by KISS is animalize thumbs up if you agree.

  • One of the best 80s Kiss songs.

  • The lead guitarist was most definitely BRUCE KULICK at this show. St John only played THREE shows: Nov 27, 28, and 29 of the Animalize tour. A week later, Dec 7, '84, St John was relieved of his gig and BK became official. And for the record, Kulick played on a few songs on the album as well and he is good enough that he can cop anybody's licks. I love this song. It has a great solo but by and large animalize would have been a better record had Vincent or Kulick played on it instead of St John.

  • @Mopheadmusic2000 You're right about the live playing, but Mark St. John is the only guitar player doing solos on Animalize. Bruce Kulick may have been around because of his brother Bob, but Bruce didn't play on anything with KISS until Asylum.

  • @mattsmith0209 Bruce was actually in for contention for the guitar slot during the recording of CREATURES but was beat out by Vinnie PROBABLY because of VV's songwriting ability. However, when Animalize was recorded Mark was the new guy BUT he didn't play all of the licks or solos on the record. Paul played some licks and Bruce DID play the parts at the end of MURDER and he played the whole solo on LONELY. This is documented by Bruce, KISS, Julian Gill, and others. Listen again. You can tell.

  • Was that Kulick or St. John playing at that song?

  • @cernex Kulick

  • Sorry Bruce. You need to take a trip to guitar heaven and get some lessons from Mark St. John.

  • They didnt play this song in San Diego on this tour, I was bummed, They had Bruce Kulick at the time who probably couldnt have pulled off the lead, I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!

  • Paul's voice rules!

  • This song get stuck in my head quite often! Killer song!

  • This song get sstuck in my head quite often! Killer song!

  • Something tells me this came off of one of those live import bootleg a albums. They only did this song occasionally for some strange reason.

  • Great Song!

  • sounds like Kulick...whom I've never liked. I think is a very uncreative and uninpiring soloist. If this is Kulick it is one of his rare better-moments. Still nothing compared to Ace or Vinnie tho'

  • @xebavara Sounds like St. John from were I'm standing, but you could be right.

  • Man, how strong is Eric Carr on this tune? And pulling it off live to boot?? Sick.

  • Eric Carr shreadssssss on this song!

  • was this with bruce kulick or mark st john? i know mark st john played like 2 1/2 shows on this tour

  • @ericcarr21 - At first blush the lead tone doesn't sound like Kulick to me. If this is indeed one of St. John's shows, this audio recording is extremely rare.

  • @ecaravello - On second listen, it does sound like Kulick to me.

  • RIP Mark st John

  • Nice qualtiy

  • Man, I am so upset that this song was not performed at the Detroit show of this tour, I have the Animalize DVD & VHS & I watch it @ least 1 x per month. This is my fave KISS era! I love Eric Carr, he has a bad ass drum set & sounds so powerfull & plays all balls out. He resurected KISS when they fell off the charts!!!

  • WOW.

Paul's voice is strong. Eric is bombastic.

Awesome stuff. You can tell it's the beginning of the tour... :-)

  • 5 stars!

  • This is Bruce...

  • Yeah I saw them in Peoria , Il on 12/17 that same year and Bruce was playing with them then but the newspaper said it was Mark. They had not even announced it yet.

  • does anyone know if this is mark or bruce on lead guitar. cuz it's my understanding bruce started with kiss during the animalize tour so i'm just wondering if this is him here or not.

  • by 1985 which is when this concert is supposedly from, mark was already stricken with arthritis, and could not play.

  • it was Reiter that let his arms bad :|

  • the problem is called Reiter

  • yeah Reiter, thats the shit. either way it was terrible.

  • This is Bruce from the 84 UK tour. This song, Get All You Can Take & Burn Bitch Burn weren't played on the American Animalize tour. Thrills in The Night got dropped too.

  • @listenbich - Actually, "Thrills in the Night" was performed in Detroit, it's on the Animalize Live VHS tape. Not sure if it was performed at other dates though.

  • @ecaravello They only performed Thrills as a couple of shows and then dropped it from the live show for the rest of the tour for some reason.

  • Even If I wnated Mark, he is dead , Bruce is no longer in business with kiss he was a great option, Ace hates working with Gene and Paul,

I'll take the poser, hes pretty damm good at what he does and plays the guitar like his rent id due tomorrow. any questions.

  • Agreed. Thayer is a talented guitar player, who plays all of the classic solos accurately. I saw the reunited Kiss a few times, and I dare to say- Ace's playing was sloppy....and he is one of my idols and influences on guitar.

  • They should of keep playing this song< I love it more than Heaven's on fire. That one and Under the Gun. They both are fast and mean to those guitars.

  • Agreed with u, I think these 2 are the most heaviest KISS songs and they sounded great!!!

  • And who's going to play the guitar? Do you really think that poser new guitarist can do it????

  • That "poser" takes em all. Except Bruce.

  • And Mark...

  • @subverzive - Listen to Vinnie play "Calling Dr. Love" in Brazil in '83, and Ace play "Shock Me" in Houston in '77 -- Thayer's a workmanlike player, but he can't hang with those 2 performances. I'm not a big Kulick fan, but I doubt Thayer can nail the "Tears Are Falling" solo either.

  • great live version

  • My favourite KISS song from the 80's. I'm damn proud KISS recorded this, it rocks.

  • This song and Thrills in the Night.

  • Great live version of this song. I love 80's KISS as equally as the early stuff. They have been an amazing recording band and have gone through many different and awesome growths as a recording unit. ANIMALIZE and ASYLUM both rock!!!!!

  • I wish they would have opened with this song instead of DRC on the American tour. They only played 2 songs off of Animalize & this wasn't one of them.

  • did they open up with this like they did in Brighton and a few other UK shows?

  • this likes on the studio version!!

  • Like Paul or not the man has one hell of a range.

  • this sounds perfect for a live sonq

  • that was a cool tour

  • this song is awesome. So much power live! I love KISS, but my fave albums of all time are Creatures, Lick it Up and Animalize.

  • Animalize had a couple good ones too. Loves and Deadly Weapon and Im Alive were pretty heavy KISS songs. I almost agree with you though. That stuff you mention is very powerful, but it's hard to say I like it better than the early stuff. It's damn close though

  • cant believe they didnt play this on the video

  • My friend is not a Kiss fan, but he loves this song!

  • By the way, watch my video "Everyone had enoudh of Sylar". It's music video for this song.

  • is this mark or bruce on lead guitar? it kinda sounds like mark

  • its bruce...i think

  • Your right, it is Bruce. I went to both Wembley nights, wasnt bad but the Wembley Lick It Up show was far better. Still cool though.

  • cool \m/

  • bruce, totally.i wasn't there but i know his tone and style.he's more about being melodic than being fast.

  • It's Bruce Kulick, then they played in Europe,

    Bruce was on Leadguitar.

Mark played only by three Shows in America.

  • this was in glasgow right?

  • yea

  • This sounds great.

  • Where did you get this? I love this song!!

  • its a great song indeed

  • Amazing song!

  • Bejaysus, brings back memories. I remember it all so well as I did a lot of this tour despite still being at school. First night of the UK tour was in Brighton (Bon Jovi supporting), Southampton followed and the, I think, St Austell. Buger me, I'm 40 now
