Regarding Glenn’s comments in his newsletter: the government had to regulate sandcastles and growing vegetables because people blocked public passage on the beach, they’ve overgrown their property until it’s an attraction for insects, rodents and disease etc. Someone had to do something. I’m not sure what the story is re: outlawing drinking soda in a city building.

They had to be fought for by a special group of individuals for decades & decades.
