Slowing down at Pinner, the camera pans to show the north end station garden. In the 50's I was a small boy and in holiday time used to walk down to the station to see my Father off to work "somewhere in the city". If I put on my rose-tinted spectacles I can see him with regulation bowler hat and furled umbrella, discussing the planting with Mr May, who seemingly regularly won the best station garden competition. Hang on, I'll take them off now - oh dear, Nostalgia isn't what it used to be !
The land of lost content, before the crowd had found its way into the secret garden and strewed it with shopping parades, semis and by-passes. No "War To End Wars" yet, no Metroland, no commuters. Truely another world

What an amazing film. It is incredible to see it like this. Correct me if i'm wrong but at 2:32 the Met line crosses over the old Watford - Rickmansworth Church St Line, now a footway called "The Ebury Way". Stunning video, thanks.
