  • my favourite violist

  • What a sound! very amazing, wow

  • Good - but what a pity the last four bars are missing!

  • What an artist!!!!!!!! She is such a brilliant musician.

  • Bravo! Amazing, she plays with such passion and sensuousness, most impressive!

I'm off to check out her versions of Bach's Partitas for solo violin.

  • Chills up and down my spine...tears in my eyes

  • Has she recorded this, - or does a full recording of the peace exist from this particular concert?

  • --

no she has not recorded this, sorry.

this video is from a rehearsal.

  • Her Bach's Sonatas & Partitas for solo violin (recorded for Alpha) are a sensuous and mystical experience at the same time. She has a truly rare gift: musical spontaneity, an intellect transcended by passion...and a meaty and silky tone. Her rendition of the Chaconne (2nd Partita) is extatic. Great!

  • Almost gives Bach a run for his money! Almost...

  • This my new favorite piece. It is very impressive to listeners and I can say it is much easier to put across than the Bach solo sonatas, especially the fugues. It gets very dense with notes some places and my first approach was very loosy goosy with the tempos. A musical friend said the most important thing to keep going was the four note bass theme G F E flat D, at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing 'emotion.' I think he's right, I'm building the sweetness back in over a strong bass.

  • I come back to this recording again and again. I am a violinist and love how much spirit she adds to it. She uses a lot of body language but it is a genuine byproduct of her love of the music.

  • I am at a loss for words. As a 14 year old serious violinist contemplating studying baroque violin, I remember this being the piece that made me want to play the violin. I was sitting in the car when I was 3 or 4, and heard this played by Andrew Manze from a tape, and I fell in love. Mrs. Schmitt makes me fall in love with this piece, and, more importantly, the violin like never before.

    What inspiration.

  • @battleblades isn't she playing the viola? it sorta looks like it but I may be wrong.

  • bravo!!!!

  • brava !!! :>
